Chronicles of the Gatekeeper - Rewards?

By RaizielDragon, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I had a couple questions about rewarding a party that is running through CotG.

1) When should I reward credits and how much should I reward? A quick search through the adventure doesn't specify any credit rewards that are directly specified, yet the party is assumed to be getting enough money to upkeep ammo, medical supplies, etc. Not to mention getting better gear than they started with.

2) I have 2 players interested in eventually having a lightsaber. When and where is the best way to work this into the adventure? They just got their first khyber crystal on Arbooine and I expect both to want it for a lightsaber. However, I'm not even sure if it can be used for that since it is supposed to be integrated into the holocron.

For 2) After Arbooine you can go briefly off book and run a short quest for lightsaber crystals. It would be simple to have them call across the void to the players. as for construction, the holocron knows how.

Isn't there a pre-made that is about looking for crystals? I'm pretty sure I remember hearing about one somewhere.

Would it make sense for the holocron to know where to send them to find these crystals? That would be an easy way to direct the party toward them.

Said adventure would be Hidden Depths, and is included in the GM Kit.

Thanks. My follow up question would be: if I'm sending the party off on an adventure for some pricy materials that only half of them are interested in, what should the rest of the party get? Maybe everyone gets a crystal and everyone who isn't interested in one can sell it for cash?

You have plenty of chances for rewards, loot and other things, you can acquire even two expensive starfighters and tons of crystals. The loot of this adventure is really outstanding, especially if you consider how straightforward it is.

I would be tempted to let them find old Sith lightsabers on Moraband, in the latter segments of the adventure. It could be an interesting dark side trial - do they keep the ancient sabers, humming malevolently in the eerie silence? maybe they're even taken from tombs, being intended to sleep with their wielders for eternity. do the PCs fall for the temptation to keep these awesome, priceless weapons? If so - gain 10 conflict!

Then of course, Suljo Warde, the final boss of the adventure, has a lightsaber and a spare crystal that will likely fall into the PCs hands.

As far as I recall there is no credit reward, after all they weren't hired to find ward. Instead they get (potentially) a free ship that can easily serve as a reward sellable for tons of credits, a Holocron, possible recovered weaponry from thugs, etc. You don't really need to reward them with credits as narratively what benefactor would be paying them for randomly choosing to chase down a holocrons quest?

The holocron consists of iirc 3 or 4 crystals, which can be used as lightsaber crystals too, and iirc two Aethersprites + one hyperspace ring. So the rewards are really massive, constructing lightsaber hilts is trivial once you have the crystals.

Yeah though they might have to be refined as I'm not certain light saber kybers and holocron kybers are necessarily the same size or cut the same. Given I dont have my book on me at the moment so I could be wrong.

also if I recall there where a few lightsaber crystals players could find in that adventure during act 2

1) Away from book but i'm almost positive the adventure in the FaD GM screen involves finding/building lightsabers.

2) yes

IT's about finding crystals and then using them to build lightsabers.

That's what I intended to say, I accidentally skipped the word "crystals", But thank you for correcting my unintended omission
