[LBS] Question

By kempy, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

As it's part of L5R universe... So maybe someone could help me.

Have a question about Legend of the Burning Sands CCG ruling.

"Hero with 4S defends City Section. Attacker engages 3S Hero. As i am able to make defending Hero immune to damage (it's optional), if i do i still have to absorb inflicted damage with Water tokens or by destroying City Section it there's none Water left? In R9E it's just much easier because you can't make defending Hero immune, but how about LBS?"

My understanding was that was exactly how it worked: you could sacrifice your 4S hero to the lower damage, or take it to the City Section, or Water. Of course, this is much more useful when you're attacking.

But I have a memory of being able to discard cards from your hand every time you absorb some damage to increase the amount you were absorbing by the Fate Value of the card you discard. What I can't remember (or seem to find) is whether you can do this when you absorb damage with a Water token. If you can, you could destroy 1 Water and then discard a 2 Fate card to absorb the 3 damage from teh Hero engaging.

Thanks pal. I got an answer for my question from Eye of Night. Btw you can sacrifice card from your hand to absorb damage only if you absorb it with Hero.
