I really like the Ghost Aesthetically. I read a lot of it was inspired by the B-17.

Now to go paint a pin up ,on my Ghost!

I have always hated tie Defenders as it just strikes me as sort of the Mary Sue ship. It simply has everything. Super Agile, Super fast, strong shields, the firepower of an X-Wing and Y-Wing combined, Tractor beam for some reason.... Dumb ship. Glad to see it leave StarWars cannon with Force Awakens.

I didn't read all the replies, so if someone broke the news already I apologize.

Defenders are still canon. They've turned up in the trailers of Star Wars Rebels season 3. They're not going anywhere, and are "new Canon" as well.

Edit: Gah, beaten to it. Oh well.

I actually like the defenders though, from my days way back playing tie fighter on MS-DOS.

Rebel specialty is regen

Apart from gonk, which kinda sucks, they possess it uniquely

Also iggyA but he really sucks

Biggs is,also uniquely rebel as are small base SLAM and sabine crew making bombs awesome

Their pilot abilities favor support and occasionally regen but ship-wise, rebels have all sorts of low evasion ships with crew slots.

Yeah, I was tempted to go paint some WWII style themed stuff onto my VCX100 as well.

You guys are talking about abilities. I'm talking about ships. Rebel abilities are supporty and sometimes have regen but what is the theme of rebel ships? It used to be turrets. Now it seems to be crew.

Turrets simply can't be a ship theme because most ships of any faction don't have turrets. Rebels had the first turrets, but if they're they turret faction then what's the A-Wing, X-Wing, or B-Wing to do? That's like saying Imperials were the bomb faction when the Firespray and Bomber came out - it was a unique option but it didn't define them.

When I think "classic" Rebels, I think of the B-Wing - being disproportionately durable compared to other factions and having some interesting upgrade options.

When I think of modern Rebels, I think of control and damage buffs. Rey+Finn, Miranda, and Norra can all put through additional damage above their attack values, while Corran and Newbacca have access to multiple attacks.

Rebels also have R3-A2 and the best bombers so they can effectively use stress control, ion control, or both to stymie their enemies.

"But wait, doesn't that ignore generics?" Yeah, unfortunately the Rebels have some really poor generic options currently. One of their other attributes is having average to poor platforms that are defined by their pilots. There are many examples of that but Corran and Biggs are probably the most notable ones.

Rebels have the most turrets of any faction. In fact off the top of my head they are the only faction with Turret upgrade slots. Scum only gets them through ships they share with Rebels.

Now this doesn't mean rebels need to be the ONLY faction with a style of ship or that every one of their ships must fit that mold. The assumption is based off trends. "What kind of ships does this faction commonly have that are rare in other factions?"

Again, you're talking about upgrade cards when the discussion is about ships. And B-Wings fall into the downside of rebel ship trends. That unfortunate 1 evade that is so prevalent in the faction.

The discussion of upgrades that can only be applied to one faction's ships is extremely relevant to talking about the ships themselves. Even empty upgrade slots are to an extent baked into a ship's cost.

Rebel specialty has always been regen. From day 1 they had R2D2, then they later got Miranda and R5P9. The ONLY form of regen outside of rebels is either Epic or Gonk, and Gonk isnt too amazing due to being every other turn and action hungry (though his issue is like a lot of scum stuff is he isnt bad hes just insanely overshadowed by the BS Scum have access to in that slot).

I do wish FFG would stop giving rebels 1agi ships though. I can sort of forgive it if that ship has regen access, but regen only helps if you survived the round to begin with. Majority of the time i see regen these days it either ends up being the last ship which makes it unkillable, or it goes poof w/o ever getting a regen off once. 1agi is so bad i'd almost rather have +4 health and 0agi (by comparison, Ghost has 16HP with 0 agi vs the Falcon's 13 with 1agi. Ghost tends to live longer unless the Falcon just gets ridiculously lucky on that 1 die over and over and over). Especially when junk like the JM5K has 2agi it makes no **** sense for an ARC which is still considered a FIGHTER ship to have less agi.

Also didnt the Defender exist in EU only until Rebels?

From the beginning, there was a main difference between Rebels and Imperials : Rebels get sturdy ships (via lots of HP and/or regen) and Imps get defense stacking (more AGI, Evade action, later token stacking and Palp).
This is still true, but with that dumbass red dice power creep, resilience is worth peanuts. So Rebels are ******.

But with the more recent rebels ships I am starting to notice a new trend; K-Wing, ARC-170, New YT1300, U-Wing, Sabine's masterpiece.....Rebel ships always seem to have crew these days. Rebels have a bunch of new crew members in all the latest expansions.

So does the new Rebel specialty lie in crew members?

They hae to share the crew specialty with scum. Scum have some of the best cheap crew cards in the game, though they at least have a couple ships that don't rely on crew still in the meta (such as fenn)

I know Ghost is useful ship - I know it works and got really useful upgrades and abilities - I just hate to fly it and hate it's aesthetics.

Yeah well, people also hated the Millenium Falcon back in the seventies. And look now.

Uglies of today, are beauties of tomorrow.

I'm sure Zeb can convince Sabine to paint a shapely Lasat pin up girl on the ghost, but my money is on Hera and Sabine prefering some muscled up guy with a lightsaber like the original SW poster.

Yeah, defender was EU till Rebels. Yes, the 1 agi sucks. ARC170s should have 2 I say.

Yeah the red dice power creep is pretty bad. Blame Fel and Phantoms.
