Standard fat Rey with Expertise and the white 3 sloops, which gets to add the blank, reroll 2 of them, and change all eyeballs to hits.

Wingman is a PTL B-Wing, Kenyan, who does the same thing. Use PTL to barrel roll and target lock, pop off a round, clear the stress to make the eyeballs hits, and use the chips to make a blank a crit.

Unless you are just rolling straight duds, this should be a nasty 1-2 combo at punching through damage. Might even wack defenders.

But does that Keyan build match up to Raaaaaaagin' Keeeeeeeeeyan?

And then 5 more points of upgrades. Maybe plasma torps and EM like you have there.

I think I like the OP's better as there are points there to make it work. PTL opens up reposition as an action. Also the rage version gives you re-rolls but not a target lock which you need to fire the torps on the initial engagement (FCS is an obvious system choice but it won't proc until after the first shot).

Also how about proton torps for the original build? You have the points to do it (at the cost of a bid) but as Rey is shooting before Keyan (probably doing a couple of shields damage if they have any) - will the plasma torp ability get used? With proton torps Keyan will get 2 crits more often than not which might come in more useful than the extra damage from plasmas.

Yeah, it's supposed to have Proton Torpedoes, I fudged the button pressing. I never liked Rage on Kenyan, with PTL he has a better chance of getting into a position.

Have you run this yet? I see the alpha strike potential.

I'll be running it in a league on Thursday. It looks like it has potential!

I demo'd this a lot before picking Jan Ors as a wingmate.

I found Keyan went down quick and lacked good manoeuvrability. Keeping him on target is difficult. He gets focused down quite quickly, even quicker than Norra or Miranda. You sure can get a good Alpha strike with him though. Never played this matchup vs. people though. So not concrete testing.

Oh...I'm really intrigued by any Rey list. Do tell!

not my list to share. but Horton w/Expertise and TLT is a bastard to fly against.

Uh...Horton doesn't have an EPT.

Duh, lol.

Alright, I played this at league last night, and we were all running our lists for the Seattle System Open so it was a pretty intense night.

Round 1 was against Fenn Rau, Old Turoch, and IG88A. I concentrated on IG and blasted him to oblivion in 2 rounds of shooting by shooting at him with both ships both times. The proton attack from Keyan is brutal, as you can change up to 2 results to crits. After that the Protectorates went down one at a time to concentrated fire in exchange for only the loss of shields on Rey. 99-0.

Second round was a TIE swarm with Backdraft, Omega Ace, and 2 FO's. I picked off an FO that got out of formation first, then Backdraft, then the other 2. This one went a lot of rounds and exposed Keyan as not being nearly as effective after both torpedoes are gone, but he was able to jump around well and still put hits in, once again ending at full strength. This time Rey lost all of her shields and one hit. 100-0

Third round was Palp, Defender, and Inquisitor. By then I was spent and it showed because despite taking out the shuttle, I banked Rey the wrong direction and went into a debris cloud, earning a crit, losing my shot, and totally messing up my placement. But then I also miscalculated the full strength Keyan right off of the board. Terrible flying on my part, not the list's fault. 36?-100.

All in all, a promising first showing. It seems like players will totally ignore Keyan, easily allowing him to get both torpedoes off, and honestly he's great to have late game. I think I'm on to something here.

Keyan is one of my favorite pilots, and sadly underrepresented in my experience. As someone hinted earlier, it's tough keeping him on target. If someone arc dodges you and you miss your chance to drop the stress, it's going to be a good 2 rounds before you get back on target, and you'll probably not be in any decent range. I like to keep him equipped with a cannon for those instances. You may want to fly this list a bit, then see what upgrades you don't necessarily use and swap those for a cannon. Even a well placed ion shot can ruin someone's day, and the mangler cannon works well after you get people's shields down if you wind up going against decimator/ghost lists with lots of hull points.

Would you consider dropping torps and EM from Keyan in favor of EU and FCS?
