We need more topics like this. Armada nerds confessing their deep secret builds that they didn't want to show their tournament friends. I think it's great discussion.
11 hours ago, Flengin said:Anyway, back in the 90's Lucas arts did the old X-Wing flight simulator. In the first campaign or two there was an Imperial class Star Destroyer, the Invincible. Most of the time, whenever it showed up, we ran. It finally met it's demise when some rebels smuggled a bomb on board....
So, the invincible:
Imperial II class-Star Destroyer, Grand Moff Tarkin, Engineering Captain, Gunnery Team, Quad Laser Turrets, Redundant Shields, Leading Shots
Interdictor Suppression Refit, Projection Experts, Targeting Scrambler, G-8 Experimental Projector
Gozanti - class Assault Carriers, Repair Crews
Gozanti - class Assault Carriers, Repair Crews

Tie Bomber Squadron
The Invincible above needs MOAR TIES and Rhymer (chasing rockets across the field trying to shoot or distract them before they hit whatever outpost we were supposed to defend), in an Minefield object - just for nostalgia.
OP, you truly are my brother. I, too, often build lists because I think they will be cool, and don't optimize much. There's a "Types of Magic Players" article that explains my thinking.
I think my favorite to date is a fleet with Combat Interdictor, (Ozzel, Kallus, G-8, Nav Team, and Interdictor) 3 Gozanti Assaults, (Flight Commander, BCC, Expanded Hangers) and then 19 T/B. No Rhymer, you're in range of something.
I had a prior version that ditched the Interdictor in favor of 2 more Gozanti, and traded Ozzel for Motti.
Never flown it, but I'd love to lose gloriously to someone at some point.
Screwing around, I try to fly whatever doesn't get flown by 'normal people'.
Jousting several Neb-B frigates backed up with the Falcon and Y-wings were a regular on my end until JJ went and made Y-wings popular. I'm too much of a hipster to fly something popular. Now I'm looking at E-wings.
I watch the meta discussions and my next flight is using whatever is out of vogue (often for good reason). I enjoy this game so much because I seem to not be alone in having a penchant for championing the underdogs. My next project is large base carriers rigged for durability that are not supported by flotillas, and commanding generic wave 1/2 squadrons.
I also tend to avoid good ships like the Assault MkII even though they'd fit my playstyle, simply because they look less like my childhood.

Dual ISDs I like it. Does it look good? Check. Is it viable? Who cares!

Thanks man! Love the huge ball of bombers. I raise you a huge ball of ties with my additional raider fleet (something like 14 ties...can't remember).

Yeah, I figured it would be fun to have a nerd out thread.
I made a 4 neb sato list that I wanna try out. Gonna be hard to get all those arcs in.
Mad Mandalorian. If you can fit a slicer tool gozanti in you can start winning with that list... its great fun

Hey, what are you doing Gink? Are you trying to optimize? First you come in with your Corellian Corvettes of ramming doom and now you are optimizing other people's lists? Jeez man! ![]()
I just took 3 nebs and a pelta to regionals if you want a working neb list....
I made sensor teams work, found a list which used yv666s effectively. These aren't pipedreams, they ate potential goldmines!

bad gink, no gozantis, raiders on the other hand...
Just played a vassal game with this list. Had a blast. Made for a super fast game. He had Vader corrupter on VSDI with RLB-chiraneau-ruthless, 2 arqs w/ doors, gozanti, 6 bombers, rhymer, and mauler. He took out Jerjerrod's ride turn three, but I had my squads in amongst his bombers by then and set about chewing them up. Top of turn 4 I blew up corrupter and rammed the gozanti. I would have possibly flown off if not for ramming the gozanti in four and five. I managed to bomb an arq down to where it died ramming my ISD in bottom of turn 5. I got his bombers in turn six.

Don't forget that you can't save a ship that's already been killed, so if you get shot, and take four hull of damage, you can't then activate and use RBD's to save the ship. I realize you probably know this, but just reminding. But if you can pull it off with even three of them, double ram one turn, RBD, shoot, and double ram again the next turn, that would be pretty evil.
