Bomber Strike

By Rogue Dakotan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I haven't played X-Wing since around late November and I've fallen a bit behind on the expansions. I just picked up the TIE Striker today and threw it into a list with my favorite ship, the TIE Bomber.

I know this isn't going to win any tournaments, but I want to get the new ship on the table and fly some bombers again.

I figure no one will be keen to shoot at Countdown, so the next biggest target would be Bren, who with the Lightweight Frame, Moffy-J and the RebCap won't be very pleasant to shoot at either.

Then I just tossed in my boy Mcdibs as well as a Scimitar for good measure. Bombers rule.

Thoughts?

Concerning Countdown, he looks great on paper, but he can be easily crippled, if not flat out destroyed, if multiple enemies shoot at him in the same turn (as he can't use his ability twice), plus his modest PS does make enemy aces with good repositioning actions or turrets quite able to line him up. Pure Sabacc or Duchess performed better in my games. The former is a "shoot me first or ignore at your peril" type of guy while the latter is extremely flexible.

Tanky Tomax is a nice idea but with 2 attack, he can be safely ignored even with a recyclable Crack Shot. I like putting ordnance on him with or without Jonus flying a shuttle, and use the rest of my points to put other threats out there (why not Pure Sabacc, for example?). Make your opponent pick his/her poison.

This is not a complete list. Add munitions to suit your fancy, or take something off and throw in a TIE. I ran it with pleasant results. The Homing Missile Alpha strike is no joke. Deathfire Conner Netted a target two rounds in a row. Duchess is slippery. 8 rounds and my opponent never got a shot on her.
