Jewel of Yavin for F&D (some spoilers)

By The Grand Falloon, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Well, it was bound to happen. My Edge of the Empire group has pretty much fizzled. I was hoping to run it parallel to my F&D group, rolling them both into Age of Rebellion after Alderaan got blowed up, but that seems unlikely, now.

I still really want to run The Jewel of Yavin, though. I had planned for my Edge players to tackle it once they had beefed up a bit, now I'm trying to figure out if I could work it in for my Force Sensitives. Let me set up the current situation:

We currently have 2 PC's with a new one joining before the next session. He has yet to make his character, so we have a Warleader and a Shadow. The Warleader has recently obtained a lightsaber from a defeated Acolyte of the Inquisition. He's thinking of adding the Niman Disciple spec. The group has a HWK-290, the Holocron (still locked) of Suljo Warde, from Chronicles of the Gatekeeper, and a rather shifty Mentor: a Zabrak Force Witch named Merciven Polatta, or "Mercy" (and no, I was not aware of the Overwatch character). She's a small-time underworld manipulator, who earned the name "Mercy" when working for a Hutt boss. She's basically a "good guy," but doesn't hold honor or courage in very high esteem.

So. I'm trying to let the players take the lead a bit. They have a handful of plot hooks, some for individual adventures, one for Chronicles of the Gatekeeper. If you were to introduce The Jewel of Yavin for a bunch of wannabe Jedi, would you run it pretty much as written? I had already planned that Elaiza wants to shatter the Jewel to make several lightsaber crystals, rather than a single one. She has a number of students on a remote world she's been trying to train. Should the PC's be her agents instead, while another group of goons works for the Shens? Or should the written showdown over the Jewel be much more likely to turn out in her favor (I imagine at least one of my players turning the Jewel over to her, rather than looking for the extra bit of cash).

Any other thoughts?
