Porkins x wing card?

By mobow213, in Star Wars: Armada

So what should Porkins special ability be? He can take 1 point of dmg and cause other all enemy squadrons at distance 1 to take a damage?

What about derek hobbie klivian? Swarm? Reroll dice. He was consider a crack shot

And wes janson counter and escort?

This was my take on Porkins ability for Armada. I know the others are on KDY as well.

But that no difference really then Biggs who let you apply it to anyone

This was my Biggs, (both made prior to wave 3), just to set the record.

"If the target of a successful Jek Porkins attack is in the shape of a food item, deal it one extra damage."

Personally, I dont need anymore X-Wing aces, we already have 3. Im not sure if there are any more unique abilities we can give them.

Red Leader shoulda been added....

Rather than new squadrons, they needed to fill in the aces for existing ships (x-wings, a-wings, tie fighters, bombers etc) rather than saturate the field with everything from the film's and legends within a year of release...

Leave some squadrons for later...

Clarification

Porkins: "You may suffer 1 damage to add 1 black die to your attack pool. Activate this ability once per round" He needs to cost at least 18 and up. Keeping the standard x wing stats, including the red bomb die.

I'm a full supporter of creating more unique squadrons. A great way to make easy money for FFG with minimal investment and adds a lot of diversity to squadrons. I'd totally buy booster packs that only contain new cards.

"You may remove Porkins from play in order to cancel an attack against another friendly squadron at distance 1 of you."

Allows a pretty powerful synergy with Biggs. Feed the damage to porkins until he's almost dead then remove him to eliminate an entire attack.

Wes Janson I would give him 2 blue 2 red and swarm and for special text something like "when attacking a squadron engaged by another X Wing Janson may re roll an additional die."

Hobbie... he sat out attacking the death star so no card for him. JK... still thinking on this one.

As a fun thought experiment my ideas are.

"You may only once, suffer one damage to increase your speed by 1, to a maximum of 5, until end of activation."

"At the the end of the squadron phase, you may only once, suffer 1 damage to move up to distance 1, even if you are engaged." Some fun mobility that has the feeling of a piliot pushing his machine past its limits

Takes 1 point of damage, sure. Butt for what? May activate as if they had a squadron token, if so take 1 point of damage?

Go All Out.

Something really fun like, After an Enemy Squadron Activates, Porkins may immediately take 1 point of Damage to perform a "Move" or "Attack".

Or even:

During the Squadron Phase, Porkins may take 1 point of Damage to immediately perform a "Move" or "Attack". You may resolve this Multiple Times as long as it is done so in a consecutive manner.

I'm all for Armada giving us more options of existing ships/squadrons, but why would anyone want a Porkins before a General Anton Merrick, Garven Dreis, Derek "Hobbie" Klivian, or Wes Jansen? Porkins is cool and all, but he'd be low on my list of pilots worthy of leading a fighter stand in Armada.

Perhaps it has something to do with relative views on who is important, based on their movie impressions?

I mean, I'll be honest, I havn't been able to see Rogue One, so I'll pass on any Merricks - I just don't know, and that may be the case.

But when it comes to Garven Dreis, Hobbie and Jansen, versus Porkins.... Porkins is front, center, loud and proud... We get multiple clips in the movies on him - which is the canon we pull from. Itis the canon of the "average" person, who never experienced the X-Wing of Stackpole or such...

Porkins is called out, and we see him respond. We get multiple camera shots. he gets multiple lines (even if they are short).

The next closest is Jansen, where Wedge does call out his name in ESB.... But Dreis and Klivian are never expressly named in the Films. And that, for those who are not steeped and deepened in the EU lore, makes a big difference of importance.

In fact, all we know about Hobbie is when luke exclaimed "Hobbie, you still with me?" There was only silence in response. When Luke needed him he wasn't there.

I guess you can argue its because he was too busy flying his snow speeder into an AT-AT.

Chewy!!!

A house rule for Han Solo during the campaign. All your fleet could hyperspace retreat BUT YOU

XD

I agree completely with the sentiment here, Dras. However, in a wholly unnecessary display of pedantry, I shall now observe that "Hobbie" Klivian is now an on-screen character in Rebels, and therefore may now be developing that same kind of sentimental bond with a new generation of viewers.

I shall allow this pedantry in the spirit of "technical correctness" that it implies. :)
