Just thought I would mention that I have very nearly done with the latest update for Strange Eons for the Revised 4th Edition of Talisman.

With input from JC and Nemomon I have added some more functionality to the plug-in and just have to polish it up before I add it to Talisman Island.

As previously mentioned I have added a new style of token, which is just a little bigger than a standard miniature which will probably help with these new German characters!

I have also added in JC's great new Rules card, but have left my simpler effort in should anyone fancy it!

I have "downgraded" the card back tool and included it in the main body of the plug-in as I feel it was not capable of achieving what I wanted without far too much work. What it does now is add a background image to the standard braiding to create a simple card back. That should be enough for most people I think, and if not, then Photoshop or similar is really the way to go with it.

I have stalled with the colour change Adventure-style card, but it might make an appearance at some point.

At the suggestion of Nemomon I have added a "required expansion" icon to Character and Ending cards too. I have used little shields to show this as you can see, and they seem to work okay, and might even be useful!

I have been looking at making localisation easier with the new version of SE, but am a little stuck on that. I will be streamlining those however, by making them smaller. People wishing to use another language, should be able to (when it is done!) but will also need the English version, for templates and the like.

They will work well enough when there is an absence of minis!

Nice work, Jon. And sitting next to the minis, I must admit that your new tokens blend in better than the labeled ones... but then I don't use minis myself.

Thanks to a trusty band of people with better language skills than mine... we are nearly there.

Just two more translations to come, but that won't stop the release this weekend of what's ready.

...and because I now have all of the graphics and an updated WIndlass and Caxton in the body of the English plug-in, the other languages weigh in at a hefty 44kb each!

Okay, I can wait no longer. I have uploaded the latest version of the Revised 4th Edition extension for Strange Eons, which includes Info cards, JC's Rules cards and ENDINGS!!

It also has translations in German, Spanish, French, Italian and Polish!

It's quite nice to delve into SE and do this from time to time. Helps stop the old brain from wanderi.... Oh look, a squirrel!

I've added a couple of things that do not really exist in the new edition, like "Required Expansion" icons and holders for Characters, Endings and Treasure cards. If they do appear at some point obviously I will revert to "official" assets.

I have some other stuff in my head to do, but it will have to wait until I get a creative boost again. I may upgrade the older versions to include things like Magia i Miecz and Magiczny Miecz, but those will be of limited appeal.

I'd like to get a handle on making boards, but I shall have to ponder that a little more...

On the issue of boards, did you ever go any further with your card based board system? I haven't done any work on my own "economy" sized board in a long while, but I've occassionally had notions similar to yours of a tile based set for a random board per game.

That might even be a way to begin developing an expansion board module with say three by three tiles with a scroll ribbon for the text and blank area above for an image. Sort of the way I was working on it, and even built by own custom scrolls for it already. Then the layout module in SE could be used to place and rotate developed tiles to create a whole board.

With this approach, and standardize square space size, it also allows the random tile board notion, and custom space overlays as well for an expansion board. Only one side space template and one corner template would be needed. They could then be rotated in layout to produce boards in rings or in back forward layouts... or around the corner layouts....... just thinking outloud.

...and still he tinkers...

I wasn't overly happy with the solution for "Required Expansion" icons in the last update to the Strange Eons plug in, as the shield motif I settled on looked rather "stuck on".

So, answering a call from Nemomon (!) I set out to alter the very fabric of TIME ITSELF!! Or, maybe just the templates for Endings and Characters...

You can see the result below. I have added a "holder" to the Character cards based on the one for Adventure cards and the like, and I have made an additional "corner" for the Ending cards, which mirrors the one used to denote what type of Ending it is.

I'll hold off updating for (quite) a while as there are a few more things I want to add in. Back to the old keyboard!
