Waterloo Regionals

By Ginkapo, in Star Wars: Armada

This thread is for all London Regionals chatter. (Yes thats Waterloo, London, UK)

Registation at 11am, first round 11:30. Finish estimated at 20:30.

As always check before you travel, I know there are some closures around Charring Cross as I dodged those site shifts to come, there are probably other closures too.

I would also like to take the opportunity to point out that I have zero pedigree on a tabletop.... Not really the player to beat.....

*Hugs*

ps. Is it just me, Lord Preyer and Dr Alex representing the Vassal community? Garro turning up?

But you've probably played more games than most people who do play tabletop!

Almost certaintly. There is something different about the tabletop though. I can judge a move to the pixel on Vassal, on the table I havent got a clue.

We shall see. Regionals are always enjoyable. I'll defend our pleasant lands online, and let others (Morrat) defend us on the tables.

Yeah its much easier to judge with precision on Vassal than on the table. Very different beasts.

I can confirm that Ginkapo is pretty intimidating on the tabletop.

I'm not going after all, hadn't spotted the date change and can't get there tomorrow.

grumble grumble grumble

On which note, if anyone has a spinal armanent they are willing to lend i would be very appreciative

Hi, I'll be there tomorrow and happy to lend you Spinal Armanents. I'll be coming down with Smurfwedge, Vae & TheCallum so I'm sure we'all track each other down.

Hey Ginks

I'll bring a spare Spinal Armament down for you mate. Not a problem.

Wait, Waterloo in London?!

Oh no...

... Anyone up for a game in Belgium today?

Good luck today chaps! Sadly I can't make it.

Grateful for any live updates on scores, fleets, or banter over the course of today.

Great. I checked travel, didnt see thameslink being their useless selves.

Left early fortunately so will still get to st pancs around 10 30

I'm getting out of bed shortly to be there. I'll bring my full rebel kit and all my cards, in case anyone needs to borrow anything.

I'll be the tall (and handsome, obvs) bearded man with a black floral Stormtrooper T-shirt. Any forumites, please feel free to say hi so I can put a name to a face.

Ben

Edit: by the way, Dark Sphere doesn't have much in the way of food nearby. Grab a carrier bag of food before you go, if you get the chance.

Assuming that you're walking from Waterloo station, the quickest route isn't immediately clear by Sat Nav. The best thing to do is leave the station from the main concourse area, at the end of the station by platform 1. Leave through the door between the small convenience store and the cash machines, turn right and walk along the back road where the Taxis are, slightly down the hill then hang a left, before you go under the bridge, down a little alley that will take you to a pedestrianised high street. You'll get a much clearer sat Nav route from there.

(Basically turn right and it will take you under a long rail bridge tunnel and down a back road to Dark Sphere). Loads of times, I came out of the front of the station and couldn't work out where I was supposed to be by satnav.

The top table is being Twitched live, see the link. Round 2 of 3 now.

Currently Callum Wescott (Imperial) vs. Przemyslaw Paluszynski (Rebels)

Long live the nebs.

Death to mc80s and ISDs! Too many

Well played everyone

Cheers guys, good to see you all, good tourny.

Great day guys.

Thanks for the fun games and the banter.

Well done to Przemyslaw for taking first with a higher MOV than 2nd....both on 23 points.

Callum came 2nd and was just pipped by Przemyslaw due to MOV.....who ever said 2 ISD lists aren't effective.

I know what my list needed....

A CR90B with engine techs and reinforced blast doors for blocking large ships...

Still not sure it would have blocked my unkillable fat MC80! Good game though Gink and nice to meet more people. Overall a very enjoyable set of days despite the embarrassment of having Happy Birthday sung to me!

It was actually 3 of us on 22 points, none had 23.

Post fleet lists please!

Wow, that's a close tournament. Average score of 7.3 for the top place!

Scores seem to be much lower these days, I guess in part as flotillas/higher activations make it harder to table your opponent. Makes the bye for nationals look pretty useful...

Top 8 were between 20 and 22 points (I was 8th on 19 points then Smurfwedge was 10th on 16 points). I asked about a scan of the lists but they were reluctant to give them as not everyone had given permission and they were concerned that some people might have wanted to keep their lists secret as they have had that situation a few times before. Top 3 are up so I'll transcribe them in here and maybe people can fill in the gaps.
