Thematic Titles

By Astech, in X-Wing

So after perusing the latest X-wing thread, I had a bit of an idea. People like thematic titles. The slooping Falcon title was all the rage at my FLGS because it vaguely resembled a movie scene. Here's a few thematic titles:

The B-wing was renowned for its heavy shielding (more impressive than any other fighter of the time), and this isn't really reflected in the game. Sure, they have high shield value, but that doesn't directly translate to durability :

Blade Wing (Title, 1 point, B-wing Only) - maybe stick it in rebel most wanted or something. I don't see another B-wing ace pack.
Your action bar gains the [reinforce] icon.
Or:
When defending, if you have shield tokens remaining, you may add 1 evade result to your roll.

The Firespray was a ship known for its dog fighting capability, as well as durability and speed (not to mention that awesome rotating cockpit). Triple bounty hunters were once a decent list. Now, Fenn Rau could take them by himself, most likely:

Firespray-31 Weapons System (Title, 1 point, Firespray Only) - A massive damage boost, plus some rear arc goodness..
You may perform secondary weapon attacks out of your rear firing arc. Once per round, after you perform an attack with a [cannon] secondary weapon that costs 5 or less squad points you may perform a second attack.

The YT-2400 was an extraordinarily maneuverable ship. While Dash exemplifies this, his ship does not, as of yet:

Correllian Special (Title, 3 points, YT-2400 only) - A free action-that-isn't-an-action, or a weaker version of Outrider for generic YTs.
After you perform a maneuver, you may execute a boost or barrel roll. You may flip this card at the end of the combat phase.
Or:
You may perform [Cannon] attacks outside your firing arc. When performing a [cannon] attack outside your firing arc, roll 1 less attack die. You may flip this card at the end of the combat phase.

What do you think, are these upgrades thematic enough to be fun to play, while not being overpowered.

Your post is about Thematic titles, but your Firespray title doesn't thematically match the ship's construction. The cannon and missile launchers are fixed forward, so shooting secondaries out the back doesn't make thematic sense.

The way you worded the YT title, a ship could boost or barrel roll twice per round because you didn't include the word "action" after.

The YT-2400 has one of the best dials in the game. It absolutely exemplifies this.

Apart from it and the Aggressor, no other large base ship has 1, 2, and 3 speed sharp turn maneuvers in white. Apart from it and the Jumpmaster 5000, no other large base ship has the barrel roll action.

However, action economy is important, and it would be nice to see the YT-2400 have a role other than HLC Dash, so I like version 1 of your title. On the other hand, as a 2-dice PWT without the title, it would certainly need something else to give it a punch. Adding an additional EPT or crew slot, maybe?

The blade wing title is good for the B-wing, but needs a different name because of the "blade wing prototype" that appeared in the rebels TV show. Since ffg thinks features make good titles maybe you could call it "Verpine shield technology".

Would love to see and know it's been discussed before, a new upgrade slot, Squadron, So if you run all of your ships that are eligible to take it they all get some sort of a boost.

Example Rogue Squadron t-65 X-wing only. If you are within range 2 of another friendly ship with the Rogue Squadron upgrade you may aquire a free target lock after performing a green manuveur.

Thematic would just be

Plot Armor: -100 points

Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Wedge Antilles, or any main Rebel character.

Title

"This ship can never be removed from play. No matter what. Also increase your attack and evade value by 15."
