First Order paint scheme?

By ThalanirIII, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

I've seen quite a few paint schemes turning existing ships into First Order variants, and they're awesome and I want some. However, I'm on a budget so I can't buy a load of paints and experiment for the right combination.

What paints do you use to get the black-white-red colour scheme on your ships?

E.g:

And finally, bonus question: Is it worth buying some white spray paint for the basecoat?

Thanks!

No need to basecoat for x-wing minis, As for the white I cheat and use an off-white because pure white is painful to the eyes. The paints I use are from the GW paint line (but any equivalent will work as well) the black is abaddon black, red is mephiston red, and the 'white' is ulthuan grey. You can view my ships in this thread. The stripes I use for the special forces is evil sun scarlet. A more orange-red than what is used on the windows.
