If you combine these two cards, can you use 2 actions immediately before your dial reveal allowing you to use PTL triggered from the initial action. If the answer to this question is yes, would the stress token from using PTL prevent a red dial manuever from being executed or would you just take 2 stress tokens at the end of a red manuever?

Yes, this does allow two actions before the dial is revealed. And if you planned a red and performed an action then PtL for another action thus gaining a stress token, your planned red would now become an illegal manoeuvre when you reveal it.

As mentioned you can use the Advanced Sensors free action to trigger PtL and in fact probably want to as you'd skip your normal Perform Action step.

That gives you Stress before your maneuver so you have a red w/ Stress situation. Fortunately that isn't nearly as bad as it once was.

You could even plan a Red maneuver. If you want to execute that Red maneuver you'll only use the AS Action. If you decide you'd instead want to perform a 2 forward (as per the most recent changes) you could use PtL to Stress yourself and do that instead. Maybe the 2 straight is boring and predictable but it's sure nicer than letting your opponent screw you over by setting your dial to their own liking.

Advanced Sensors is most helpful when you want/need to execute a red manoeuvre, because it gives you your action beforehand that you otherwise wouldn't be able to perform due to the stress incurred by the red.

Note also that if you plan a GREEN manoeuvre, and use AS with PTL, you then clear the stress from AS at the end of your green manoeuvre.

Alright so there seems to be a rather flexible way to play this card in different scenarios then. I'm glad I asked about it.

Normally you would manoeuvre your ship then perform an action, unless the stress from the manoeuvre stops that action, which is a pain. Advanced Sensors swaps the manoeuvre/action process giving you your action before the stress-inducing manoeuvre. I watched Paul Heaver use it with B-wings to great effect by target locking then 2-K-turning and making a couple of attacks with rerolls that he simply wouldn't have been able to without Advanced Sensors.

I've been playing wrong then. If I used advanced sensors and ptl before executing my green maneuver, I've always taken a stress token. This is going to change things!!

You've only been doing it wrong if you've KEPT the stress token after the green manoeuvre. You still apply the stress token, but you get to clear it immediately after the green manoeuvre. It still has to be assigned in case there's another ability that may trigger from "receiving or assigning a stress token".

Yup. Advanced sensors and ptl or any other extra action ability is a good combo.

I have a Lambda+backdraft+QuickDraw list that uses Fleet officer,inspiring recruit,experimental interface,and advanced sensors to focus everyone up for zero net stress. Even when I bump ships or land on an asteroid.

Advanced Sensors is a very strong card.
