Let's Talk/Build Constable Zuvio

By Gibbilo, in X-Wing

The highest PS quackjumper, constable zuvio's ability of dropping bombs for free interested me. The more I look at him though, the harder it seems to come up with the ideal build for him.

5hp protected by 2green is really paltry, so it would seem that you want to keep him cheap. On the other hand, it seems like the way to make him most useful would be to load him up with conner nets, scavenger cranes, primed thrusters, etc. etc. He could easily push 30+ points which just seems way to much.... So, I was thinking we could come together and figure out what you think is the best way to run Zuvio? Is it even possible to make him shine at a modest price?

Here's my build that I'm thinking so far, I'm thinking he could be a control tug both with ions and tractors, set yourself up for double shots with snapshot. If you are good/lucky, could convert an ioned/tractored ship into a range 1 shot the following turn. It thought about Connor Net instead of Ions but then he seems to get too expensive;

Zuvio (30 points)

Snap shot, Ketsu, Ion bombs, PA, Scavenger Crane, Space Tug Tractor Array

You could always use Vizago and Cloaking Device to make him harder to kill. First round cloak and then use Vizago to swap in Scavenger Crane and just stay cloaked the rest of the game.

Switch out Snap Shot for something like Wingman, Intimidation, or Decoy if you do.

Personally i find him a bit too expensive for what he does. Bare minimum he's 25pts to get use out of him, and i dont think he'd be all that useful (PA, Crane, 2pt bomb, Tractormod).

The tugboat to me doesnt seem to offer anything other than the auto tractor. If you try to maximize his ability he breaks 30pts without even trying (though i admit snapshot is a good one)

Zuvio

Vizago

Tractor Array

Cloaking Device (swap for Scavenging Crane)

Bomb of choice

Cloak at the start of the game and swap for the crane.

Back up with Zuvio and tractor someone so your bomb is unavailable.

I call this 'Trolliness EXTREME!'

I also believe Zuvio is incredibly expensive

as such, I would not fly him without Mr. swaps-your-illicit and cloaking device for that permanent +2 agility (swap out cloaking for crane)

without the extra agility, he's just an easily destroyed point sink (probably remains that way even with said agility)

and then you'll probably give him VI, tractor array and bombs of some fashion

!!Zuvio, Stay on Target, Navigator, Spacetug Array, Pattern Analyzer, Proximity Mine, Scavenger Crane.

33 points of poor decision making. Enjoy!

I especially like the promise of decloaking at an opportune moment. Just when your opponent thinks their PS 8+ ship is safe from your bombs...

While Zuvio seems like he should be really fun, I think his higher cost coupled with the need to spend even more points on bombs to use his ability will keep from seeing much play.

Unkar Plutt and the generic are the Quadjumpers that I expect to see get played. They are both cheap, Plutt has a great ability, and they don't require a bunch of extra points to do what they are meant to do.

Sad but probably true (have to see when he comes out). Even so i still am going to try him.
