Droid crafting.

So I wanna take an RMD eye in the sky minion and add the cybernetic networked slicing input

I'd also like to add a rank in stealth and a rank in computers

What's the procedure?

Also can I craft simple droid minions without buying the droid tech spec?

I'm willing to go with another droid but it needs to hover and be sil 0

You don't need to be a droid tech to build droids, they just get discounts and bonuses from talents.

As for what you want to build, remember that minions don't get skill ranks. If you want your droid to have actual ranks in skills, then it needs to be a Specialist Chassis. You could spend 3 advantage when building a specialist chassis for "Unusual Size" to make it sil 0. For hover capability, you would want to work out with your GM what kind of equipment you could use to model that, perhaps Jump Boots. The Networked Slicing Input can either be bought outright and installed normally, or if you get enough advantages on your crafting roll, you could have one built in from the start with the "Modular Hardware" option.

Once the chassis is complete, you would pick a Directive to program it with. There isn't a pre-built directive that matches what you want it to do, so you could see if the GM is willing to design a new "Spy Directive" with you to get at what you want. Otherwise, the easiest route would be to use Labor Directives giving it two ranks in Computers, and then hope to have 2 advantages on the programming roll you can use to pick "Broad Utility" and add a rank of Stealth. You could also use Navigation Directives for the Technical Aptitude talent, but that's a harder check with a bunch of things you don't need.

Note, however, that the Specialist Chassis costs 4500 credits and is a Daunting Mechanics check to build. It might be cheaper to build a few monotask chassis droids with the group skills you want and toss them together into a minion group to get pseudo-ranks in skills.

You say 'Hey Gm, I want to add the cybernetic networked slicing input to an RMD eye in the sky droid, then give it a rank of stealth and computers'

Then he either says no, or he says you need to (insert requirements here) to get it done

As for needing a spec to do something, it seems to be a common misconception that the classes or speciaizations are a requirement for anything in this game. They arent. You dont need the pilot spec to fly a ship, you dont need mechanic to fix one. You dont need to be the bounty hunter class to hunt bounties. All the classes do is make you spend xp for no reason and all the specs do is give you access to talents and skills to do things better
