My old Cards?

By WorldsOkayestGM, in Legend of the Five Rings: The Card Game

So I have a massive amount of cards from the Ivory's Edition's Burning Sands and Twenty Festivals expansions. Are these cards still legal? What do I do with them when this new set comes out? What can I do with them now? My player base moved away.

They are legal in our hearts. Their best use is for Legacy play or to back proxies.

Send them to me!

Build giant card castles. And then, post pictures. :)

Personnally, I threw a lot of mine away, only kept Mantis and unicorn cards.

Burning Sands expansion?

Twenty Festivals was actually a base set, not an expansion, which is good news as it means you can build decks that are fairly balanced against each other out of them and still enjoy the game.

As for what to do with your cards, if you're asking do they have any resell value, the answer is a resounding no - there are simply many more people selling than buying now. The cards will also not be compatible with the LCG release, and FFG were very upfront about that right from the first announcement. As Andrew said above, people still play Legacy formats though...Modern and BigDeck seem to be the most popular, but you can always ask around and see what people in your area are interested in.

The change from a collectible card game to Living Card Game will affect more of Legend of the Five Rings than just the distribution model. The transition also means changes for the game’s design and we intend that the Legend of the Five Rings LCG will feature significant mechanical changes. This will take time, but as we move forward, we will update this page with a more information on the Legend of the Five Rings LCG. Existing players should note that the Legend of the Five Rings LCG will be mechanically distinct from the CCG version, and Legend of the Five Rings CCG cards will not be compatible with the LCG.

Since the first day of the sale, this has been on the site and it basically says that CCG cards will not be legal for the LCG, since it will not be compatible.

That being said, you may want to keep them, at least until the LCG is fully released and that you and your group like them. At least, if the LCG isn't interesting for you and your group, you'll still be able to have fun with L5R CCG, even if it will no longer have any releases. I do also intend to keep my cards until I see how it looks like as a "Just in case".

Thanks guys, it was helpful xD I think I will keep them and maybe find someone who wants to play with them. I am also somewhat excited to see what FF does with it. Still, no games live around me anymore and I am STARVED for the RPG or card game T_T

UNICORN AND CRANE CLAN ARE BEST CLAN!

There's still a somewhat active online community playing L5R via Sun and Moon. There's a Facebook group that posts information on upcoming events and can likely help you find an opponent to scratch that itch.
