Markmanship

You know, for all the times I've seen you cite extra credits, I'd think you'd be familiar with their explanation of what is and what is not power creep . Power Creep is no an option simply being better than an old option. Power creep is a new option raising the standard for all options. Later EPTs being better than Marksmanship are not an example of power creep because Marksmanship was bad compared to the standard options. It was occasionally taken by people trying to fill every upgrade slot, but it was not by any means a good option.

Maybe not Power Creep but definitely Accretion is coming into play. But rest assured there is a new standard of a ship build for Wave 9 than there is one for Wave 2 or 3. Of course Marksmanship was not good back in wave 2-3 where action economy was at an all time importance but action economy has given way to attack power. Either way Marksmanship like proton torpedoes was a Wave 1 card where there really wasn't a good source of resources or experience to know where the meta was. But still there is some creep and that is point cost or deflation creep where better EPTs are cheaper. Back in Wave 1 the average cost for EPTS taken was 2. Now it has dropped to 1 making 2 the new expensive EPT and 3 better be amazing of DOA.

Yeah, I know the reason behind the functionality of the title, I was just lamenting that it requires two targets positioned in front and behind of the ship and did not allow for a 'true' double tap out of the booty guns.

And when your "main" guns are forward how would you get a double tap to the backside? Double tapping forward could have been possible but then that would have been a second shot at defense; great if you're shooting at something with no agility but not so good if you're shooting at something you're already having a hard time hitting.

Marksmanship was also a wave 1 release. It was a decent choice for Luke way back when there were no other options, but it just isn't worth it's cost today. There are very few action EPTs worth it when there are several other good ones to choose without taking an action.

The only action EPT i actually do use is Expert Handling, and even then its only to give barrelroll to ships that cant get it otherwise lol.

No, power creep is the problem- the example you were citing just wasn't an example of it. Accretion as defined by the Extra Credits team is abandoning old mechanics in favor of new ones (while still leaving them sort of there, but not really relevant). While that's arguably happened in the case of primary weapon turrets (although who knows, we might see another one in wave XI or XII), the reason ships like the x-wing, b-wing, or non-crack shot tie fighter lag behind is because of power creep. Accretion would be if auxilliary arcs were supplanted by a strictly superior mechanic like a 360-degree arc*, or if bombs had briefly been the best thing in wave III-IV, but then FFG released a free bomb-proofing mod in Wave V, and never released another bomb card.

*As opposed to the PWT, which fires out of arc, which has a number of disadvantages.

Well then double tap out the front!

btw double tap backwards works because it's a turret! TLT Jr.!
