Organised play announced
Escalation league? Yes please!
OK don't just put a picture of a dragon on there and not gimme a big honkin' dragon... Cmoooooooon large units.
Edited by CarbiniEscalation sounds nice, but I'm just gonna want to buy my stuff all at once... I am not a patient man when it comes to my plastic :\
I just wish they showed us what the promotion cards will be. It's quite good to see FFG support behind the game and I hope we'll get some cool stuff in the future.
Still, I want that wave 1 preview to see what I'm going to buy for the escalation event.
It's a great move, hope to see more stuff in the future. Releasing the escalation stuff as a pdf could be great for organizers too.
Edited by TheBoulderBiggest news is that the launch event features the purchase of expansions...which basically confirms that we will have Wave 0 expansion packs at launch!
It sounds so good. If only I wasn't already playing X-Wing and didn't have a full BattleLore collection, I'd be all over this. It looks like it's gonna be a super fun launch for Runewars TMG. I really wish they never did BattleLore and just started with this.
Yeah I'm keeping my eye on this game, but I really dont need and can't afford money or time wise, yet another 'system' game from FFG - I already have X-Wing, Armada, Imperial Assault, Destiny and Arkham Horror LCG (and will probably buy L5R later in the year).
...and I have a full collection of Battlelore...
As per now, FFG has indeed taken a lot of my money too. But somehow, I'm glad to have droped out from X-Wings some years ago and the only LCG I am keeping updated is Netrunner. I've delved into Descent II and owe Runebound. I plan on selling some of my games.
I will probably keep Netrunner up to date, but while I am fan of this game, I might take off the plane to board on the Runewars Miniature game instead. Bah, my birthday coming pretty soon I can make anyone (if they exist) who would like to pay me something to just wait a couple of months
.
The last thing I will stress here is that I have not to much room to stock my games anymore.... This will end up in a fight with my cat asking me how he is supposed to have a nap with so many boxes I don't allow him to lie on
But enough of my personal life's daily problems and let's focus on our upcoming jewel...
I will maybe be among the day one buyers anyway but like all of us her : I'm waiting for FFG to publish the rules and to announce the wave 0 packs. Let's wait and see then...

I read it as the expansions won't be out until the Escalation kit, which is after the launch event. I really hope we have a wave 0 at launch!
Right... so they announce a launch kit and a deadline for preorders, but don't show what the kit will actually contain?
Edited by costiThat isn't any different than any of the other kits now. The contents are announced later not when pre orders go up.
We may not know what's coming in the launch kits but we now know what comes in the quarterly kits
NEW: Runewars Miniatures Game Challenge Kit
The unique and exciting gameplay in

For the third tournament event, the Deployment and Objective cards are brand-new, created specifically for that quarter's Challenge Kit!
In addition to multiple Core Prize Cards, plus Elite Prize Cards and Items, additional prizes are included for random distribution and a painting award. Retailers can also choose to use this kit and its prizes during another event. Be sure to read the upcoming prize preview article closer to the debut of these kits for the full content listing, the optional event outline, and the painting award criteria! And don't forget to pre-order your Launch and Escalation Kits for Runewars Miniatures Game by Thursday, February 23rd

I'm more a "casual" player, meaning that I am not into tournaments or so and never played really in any sotre so... I am glad to see these announcements though because they seem to send the message that the game will be supported in the mid-long term. Then, good job and let's wait and see guys and gals ;-)
And with this announcement I foresee that the business model will be similar to IA...

Is this bad? What is it about the business model for IA that you dislike? Also baring in mind they said it will be possible to collect a single army without missing any upgrade cards.

Same here, except I'm knee deep into Armada and Age of Sigmar. Thought briefly about selling my Battlelore set and pursuing Runewars but I just don't believe I've got the wallet or time for it. I'd certainly never play competitively at a store so a lot of the current announcements aren't really targeted at me anyway. I do hope they're successful with it. It's certainly a great time to be new to the hobby.

My bad. Made the post in a hurry to lunch and I dont think well in an empty stomach. I meant Armada and the "negative" thing about that is that it will make one to buy several items of the same to be competitive.

I mean that's how most miniature games work though. At least they are making you not have to buy other factions you will never use for a few upgrade cards. But also it is to early to see what will be competitive.

That's fair enough, although I'll only be playing with friends so that doesn't really concern me personally but for those lucky enough to live near the tournament scene I understand why that may put them off. However, I'd wager that a lot of games are like that in the highly competitive tournaments.
Same here, I've got nearly no interest in tournaments of any kind. I'll be playing it for fun if I get into it :-)
Iam really interested in competitive play and tournaments alike. I think we have to wait until we get the exact information about the content of expansions/boxes for Runewars.
Then we could get angry about it and not before their release, thats just my opinion :).
Furthermore, organized play creates a big community and new players for Runewars, which is really good for us and FFG. A bigger player base means, we could play against more people and more people playing/buying Runewars means more profit for FFG, which they can use for creating new miniatures, or new races, (narrative) expansions for Runewars :)!
I don't have anything against casual play and i do it for myself in other tabletops also, but a player community don't grow for itself, if everybody plays Runewars at home ^^.
