First Systems Open!

How is there no stream. Seriously? :(

Darn... Can't order Hoth tickets until Monday... Hope they're not all gone by then...

Day 1 final standings -

System Open Day 1.jpg

Lack of streaming is disappointing. I think they've gotten used to the community doing this for them :-/

While I'm here, does anyone understand the system open endor signup? can't tell from http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07edfngb3gfa87684e&llr=vwpppjqab if you still have to pay the $112 for the emerald city comicon ticket ("After completing your registration, Reed Pop entertainment will be in contact with you to arrange for the purchase of your badge") or if its included as part of the purchase via the "Captain's Entry" 20$ fee on Friday/Saturday.

Looks like you still have to pay the ECCC ticket, and that they haven't told anyone how much they are going to have to pay to for it. Inside sources tell me "the ball is being dropped on multiple fronts".

I see a nice balance between the three factions, any hint about the lists?

According to Team Covenant, the 7-0 guy is running Paratanni. No idea on the rest of the field

Is that Chumbalaya undefeated at the top?

From one of the judges I've been told there will be recording today, but no streaming from Mustafar.

As for Endor, my inside source says there will be a two day pass for the X-wing event. My assumption is it will be in the $50-60 range, but no confirmation on that.

Cool, thanks. They are cutting it close, we're nearly a month away from the event!

The tickets for Tatooine went on sale less than 5 hours ago and all 300 were apparently sold out within an hour or two.

I hope you managed to snag one in time.

Thank you I did.
It was sold out in about 35 minutes but I and the 12 other Danes I am traveling with managed to get a ticket.
So 13 vikings will invade Madrid in March :)

Finals for mustafar is paratanni vs an imperial list with Quickdraw, Vess, and Saabac. Top 4 lists that lost were a rebel swarm with z's and y's I think, and a palp/marek/fel.

Team convenant is filming the final round. Nothing else was filmed. Top 8 is as follows. Though I'm not 100% sure of all upgrades.

Parattani

Vessery (tie/d tractor!), Pure sabbac, quickdraw

Blair's Seattle list (2 Y's plasma EM ABT chimps, 2 Z's tracers chimps, 2 Z's)

Trip x7 defenders (I think ryad adap, vessery trickshot, and glaive trickshot?)

Palp ace/defender (palp with collision, marek x7 VI mkii engine, standard soontir but hull instead of stealth)

Vader (ATC, Adapt, title), quickdraw, vessery

Kanan Biggs

Palp, whisper, pure sabbac

I was flying torpedoes jumpmaster and missed the cut by 8 MOV.

Paratanni takes it.

Yep, it's me.

Congrats on the win.

Turnout was less total for system open than Seattle regional. the competition was tougher at System Open. My big take away is that 'Falcon lists' just arent quite cutting it in the current meta. I checked in with all the Falcon players I saw I didnt meet anyone i recall that made it through first cut.

The map is nice the Planet is a little small and there are red logos in 2 corners for system open. Damage Deck with Vader on backs of cards are pretty sweet as well.

Went 3/4 with Rey-Jan Ors.

I would not trust factions on this list - i see at least 1 error.

Top 8 lists (in same order as cut). Though I'm not 100% sure of all upgrades.

  1. Jeremy Chamblee (chumbalaya from the Kessel Run podcast): Parattani: Manaroo (Mindlink), Fenn Rau (Mindlink, autothrusters, title), Asaj (Mindlink, latts razzi) [Won, flawless 12-0 for the Open]

  2. Marc Sebo: Imperial Jank Aces: Vessery (TIE/D! Tractor, Twin Ion Engines, Expertise, Pure sabbac (Title, Trickshot), Quickdraw (FCS, Title, Expertise, Lightweight Frame), title [Lost to Parattani Final Round]

  3. Clay Longino (from the 512 podcast): Blair Bunke's Seattle list: 2xY-wing (plasma, EM, ABT, chimps), 2xZ-95 (tracers, chimps), 2xZ-95 [Lost to Imperial Jank Aces Top 4]

  4. Will Eldridge: Trip x7 defenders: I think it was ryad (adap, x7), vessery (swarm leader, x7), and glaive (trickshot,x7) [Lost to Palp Ace/Defender Top 8]

  5. Dennis Underwood: Palp ace/defender: OGP (palp, collision), marek (x7, VI, mkii engine), soontir (PTL, AT, title, Hull upgrade) [Lost to Parattani Top 4]

  6. Garret Perkins: Imperial Ace Jank take two: Vader (ATC, Adapt, title), quickdraw, vessery [Lost to Blair's Rebel Swarm Top 8]

  7. Zach Bunn (of Team Covenant): Kanan Biggs [Lost to Imperial Jank Aces Top 8]: Biggs (R2D2, IA?), Zeb (ABT, title), Kanan (TLT, crew probably, title)

  8. Raul Flores: Palp Aces: OGP (palp, collision, tractor), whisper (VI, ACD, Gunner, FCS i.e. buzzsaw whisper), countdown (title, no mod) [Lost to Paratanni top 8]

These are the lists, according to user Morality_Police on reddit

That sounds vile, but has the fairly obvious in of nuking Jan. I'm guessing Expertise/Finn/Kanan/New Title on Rey?

Nice list either way.

Paratanni is a serious problem. I'm worried that FFG move so slowly that they're still trying to fix Dengaroo when it's already been replaced by something much worse. They need to get ahead of the game and treat the underlying disease instead of running around three months behind the meta treating the symptoms when it's already too late.

I somehow agree. I am little bit overwhelmed by the success of the List. I wanted to create something powerful, yet challenging - combination only few can play and master (niche list - something like TLT Kannan + Biggs maybe) but I've created world conquering monster instead. It's not auto win option rewards some good flaying, but list doesn't have weaknesses so if you're good - not making mistakes - you can win everything.

On the other hand we had Defenders everywhere like month ago and now - at least where I play - they are almost wiped out by TLTs, bombers etc. So despite Parattanni is most winning list right now, Meta is very diverse and there is lot of equally strong lists can beat it (equally strong in direct matchup).

I don't plan on derailing the whole thread, but ultimately most of these lists are just reskins of the same issue and I don't get a sense there's any grip being made on the underlying mechanics that make it all happen. They whack-a-mole a problem pilot down only for the same mechanic to pop up in a worse form somewhere else.

I keep thinking if we brought Agromech Triple Jumpmasters back would they control Paratanni? I'm not sure they're good enough.

On the other hand, if you look at the rest of the top 8, you'll notice quite a bit of variety (and no other Scum list), so maybe the issue is not so huge as it seems?
