Star Wars Second Annual Armada World Cup 2017 - Quarterfinal Round

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

Okay, concessions work too. I was not aware that this was offered.

Edit: If anyone thought I was HAPPY to be flipping a coin to determine a game, they are crazy. I want games played. I dislike concessions less than coin flips, but I'm also not going to force a concession unless it is obvious one player is making it intentionally difficult or straight up skipping a scheduled game. I'd still rather have the game played out if at all possible. We're all adults here, if you're the reason the game can't be played, take the concession. It looks like Zanos did and I salute him for a difficult but morally upright decision. He's the type of player we should all strive to be.

On to the Quarter-Finals!

JJ / Miedo game is already scheduled for Friday.

It's still truely a World Cup. This time last year we had I think one European and the rest American and Canadians left. This year we have I think 4 Europeans (?), one Aussie, and a Kiwi.

I did think that was the case, but didnt want to force it. Very sorry we cant play.

The bigger issue above your work hours was the time difference. For anyone passing judgement, just remember it is a 5 hour time difference between, which is a killer for midweek evening games.

GK vs Mhd: Sunday, early Central US/evening CET (exact time not set).

Yeah, if Mied, Aresius and GK would kindly win that would be appreciated....

We had at least one Aussie at this point last year too. I know because I had to play two of them IN A ROW. That time difference suuuucked.

POD 1, 2, & 3 supremacy so far.

Hell, POD 1 is rocking the technical Runnerup and Third Place.

US time suckz too...I had to get up at 7 am on a Sunday...

We Antipodeans have no intention of bowing before the European masters. In all seriousness 10-12hr time differences may actually work out reasonably for match ups.

You non-Americans making it very hard to be an impartial tournament organizer right now.

Its actually two americans from pod 5 too.

We dont mind you siding with the plucky underdog who came out of nowhere, but please, JJ needs no support.

So support MDH-HD

Yeah, the time difference is the main part. If it was even a two hour difference I'm sure one of us could make something work but as it is, it'd be one of us up to 3 or 4 in the morning by the time it was done :/

Aresius vs JRock is scheduled for Monday 8:30pm NZT.

That's a whopping +12 off GMT isn't it?

Statistics for Remaining Players:

Imperials: 5

Moff Jerry - 1
Ozzel - 2
Motti - 1
Vader - 1

Rebels: 3

Dodonna - 1
Rieekan - 1
Ackbar - 1

Imperials and Rebels pull a bit closer to one another. Ozzel finds himself the most popular Imperial Commander.

Rebel vs Rebel in the Red match means at least one of Ackbar / Rieekan makes the Final Four. Ozzel could find himself left out in the cold, facing off against Vader (Orange) and Moff Jerry (Green). Only one of either Motti or Dodonna make the Final Four (Blue).

I'd hoped you'd throw yourself on the Ginkapo Grenade, Zanos

Now I am stuck playing his frankly insane Ramming Rambo McRamington of Rammingshire fleet. :D

18 hull, thats so lightweight! How do you cope with such fragility?

As always I suggest you concede with honor

We played Targeting beacons. For better or for worse I decided to split my ISDs to deny Gunnery team advantage and to guarantee to catch those navigating guppies. And so it went. There were some cold rolls in initial squadron exchange (4 YT2400 brought Boba Fett to 1 HP but didn't kill him, Vader never rolled more than 2 hits) so by the end of round 2 everyone but Jendon was dead and I only claimed 2 YT2400s. My first ISD then proceeded to catch Ackbar and got boxed to death by all 3 frigates, however before dying he wounded Ackbar with a front and a side shot and almost killed another AF with a front shot (it survived with 1 HP after the ram). The second ISD then did some navigational wonders to get a double arc of Ackbar round 6 and killed him while surviving with 1 HP left.

An amazing game as usual against a very good opponent whom i'll be delighted to play again.

At least you managed to take Ackbar out of this tournament... but wait! Intel tells that he has escaped in an emergency capsule. Those slimy fish!

The best part was Paul put his Targeting Beacon right on the Left corner of the set up zone, right up against his board edge.

There's no way that would ever be in range of one of his ships......

Well.. it gave Ackbar that extra sense of security, didn't it? ;)

JJs vs Miedomeda ends with a win for me. Logfile is in the results thread.

I need a time to plan GK / MHD or Matt / Gink. One of the two is getting MotW'd.

Ginkapo's mighty victory against MattShadowlord is due to take place at 6am GMT/2pm aussie time on Tuesday.

GK vs mhd Sunday 8 pm my time (gmt +1)
