Jedi Quest Mixed level Round-Robin campaign prep thread

By Tramp Graphics, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

The Jedi Star , a CEC YZ-900 freighter turned mobile Jedi training facility, captained by itinerant Jedi Korath Lorren , seeks out other survivors of the Jedi Massacre and new apprentices to rebuild the Jedi after Luke Skywalker is found.

I'm organizing a mixed level "round robin GM" campaign. I have two other players/GMs already and am looking for a few more.

1. Setting is TFA era.

2. Each player/GM needs two characters. The first character must be a "Master Level" character between 1500-2000 XP and (preferably) a "signature character" you have played in previous campaigns from any system (this includes conversions from WEG or D20) and have a particular connection to (be it a "namesake" character or just one you've been playing for a long time and really like to play). The second character needs to be a starting character.

3.Any career and spec from AoR, EotE, or F&D and their source books is allowable, though at least one character needs to be a Force user.

4.Any species from any of the official source books as well as the USM (with the official species stats taking precedence) is allowed. This includes Droids.

5. All characters will be made using SWSheets.com with all dice rolling being through Orkos.com .

6. All players will take turns as GM.

7. Each Master Level character should bring at least one "party resource" or"quest item" to the game that they've earned from previous adventuring.

8. Up to 21 living characters (not counting droid PCs) are allowed in total (this is the max capacity including crew and passengers for the ship).

Players/Characters:

Tramp Graphics: Korath Lorren / Rei Atin

I'll get my characters finished up. Let's do this!

Cool. I still need to figure out how to handle NPCs and the stats for Korath's Holocron. It's a quest level type, not the "starting party resource" type.

Ok so I'll state up something this weekend... What time period? And is this EU?

Also are we assuming that both characters get equal time or is the focus on the trainee?

Both characters get equal time, as both will be played simultaneously . As for time frame, as I said in the first post, it's around the time of TFA 34 ABY (3o years after RotJ) canon time frame.

I'm gonna pass I think

So I just realized: I do have a character I've played before, from a PbP that went defunct. We were playing Padawans in a Clone Wars-era game. Given that it's... fifty-something years later, if I'm recalling the timeline correctly, would you object to me bringing in a Master-level version of her?

I wouldn't have a problem with it, but she might be too old to adventure. I thought you were going to play Caasa.

Once we get enough players/GMs someone needs to volunteer to start off. This will be my first time playing the FFG version of the game and my first PbP campaign, so I will need help with figuring this out, including how to work the Orkos dice roller.

I would be interested as a have an old character to play, although the lack of a current GM is bothering. Who has the final decision on what is allowed? The current GM?

I was going to play the other one, but you said you'd rather have characters we'd already played.

I wouldn't think of late-sixties-to-early-seventies as too unreasonable for a Force-user, personally, given that they don't seem to slow down as much as non-Force-users do—and besides that, it's also a good reason for her to not be outshining whoever her student is.

As for my student character, I have a Shien Expert in the works. I'll post her when I've finished writing her background. :)

The only real limit is if it's book legal and should realistically be able to have survived into the time frame of the campaign. That and fitting within the XP range. Also, if you're converting it from a previous system, it should match the original character's stats, skills, and other abilities as closely as the game allows . I actually came up with a relatively workable system to convert WEG D6 characters over in order to convert my character, Korath.

Very true.

I am not speaking of characters or character generation. I am questioning what happens when there is disagreement among the players as to what is possible during the campaign. Does the "current" GM have absolute authority if they are running the campaign at that time?

Is there a campaign idea already in play that the GM need to follow or are planning a open world campaign? Is there anything that the first GM has set up already?

Current GM has final say. And probably pretty open world as yet. Nothing specific has been established other than it will involve the Signature characters training of the starting characters as well as (hopefully) facing off against our various Signature characters' nemeses and/or tying up any other such "loose ends" our Signature characters may have, as well as seeking out Jedi artifacts, and fighting against the First Order in general. But no, nothing has been fully set up yet, including who will start off as the first GM.

I'll start off as the first GM, if no one else takes the helm. Have an idea that could work well, a First Order occupied city.

What's the current count if character/players? Are they all posted somewhere? I

Right now, the current count of confirmed completed characters are my two. Shy Ion is still working on hers. I haven't heard from Avalon Rises yet.

One thing to remember is the characters first need to be gotten together, as it is likely none of them know each other and are likely scattered on different worlds. This is particularly true of the starting characters. The early sessions will need to revolve around gathering the party from throughout the galaxy. This will be Korath's first task. For example, my starting character will be on Concordia making a suit of armor to start. That is the very first thing the character does even before being introduced to the other characters. So it is likely that Rei will be one of (if not the) last characters introduced.

So you have an idea already as to how and why to start? I would recommend you start as GM as I would not want to try to create something you already have set up.

I would just start with everyone already onboard your ship and move forward together.

I can't because I'm not familiar enough with the system yet. As I stated, this is my first time even playing the FFG system. That and I want to keep my own GMing to a minimum. As it stands, I have plans to co-GM a couple of modular encounters/adventures, but beyond that, I'd prefer playing for the most part. I figure once we get enough players/GMs, we can discuss exactly how to start the game off and how we want to introduce each of our characters.

...Okay, Shy is here, and this gives me an excuse to play Kemna at her full height of ridiculousness power?

...Lemme get to stattin'. Gotta come up with a trainee...

Cool. I can't wait to see them.

Oh, Shy, a couple of questions. I was checking out your Dera character, and was wondering, what's your plan for all of that unused XP? How would this character have survived Order 66 and the Rebellion against the Empire. What had she been doing all that time? Also, which character would you prefer to play? Her or Caasa. Who would you consider to be your " signature " character?

I'll stat up either my droid from early 2014, or my stasised/experimented Fett Clone from mid 2014 as my signature character and the other one as my regular one. And see if I like them. If I do, then I'll play.

I'm still working up a plan for the XP. For how she escaped, I'm thinking that she was on her own (maybe scouting?) when Order 66 was activated, and her master managed to get off a call warning her not to come back. From there... I have some ideas, but I can't really explain until I have them more fleshed out.

Edit: And, as Absol's showed up, I wouldn't want to step on her Togruta Mystic thing. ;)

(That's not my only reason, don't worry.)
