something different.

By firstandonly, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Greets everyone.

I have a tourney coming up this weekend and would like some feed back on a list I built this past week. I haven't had a chance a to fly it yet, but I feel it is strong and has potential to be a good list.

Inquisitor- PTL, Title, AT, Prockets

Omega Leader- comms relay,juke

Vessery- Cannon title, tractor beam, VI, Ion engines.

Total 98 points.

Personally 2 out of my 3 ships don't require much synergy and can fly pretty independent from each other, were as the Tie defender has a little synergy with the other 2 ships. All ships are PS 8 so order of activations shouldn't be too much of a issue, but you more than likely want vessery to shoot first, and can feed off of Inquisitor or OL's target locks for the primary attack afgter the cannon attack. I choose the Tractor beam more for control and to make opposing ships to lose a agility die. OL and inquisitor both do their thing as usual and help swing damage to go thru with help of vessery. Prockets are there to deter enemy ships wanting to close on inquisitor or to help with an alpha strike. I think this list can hit pretty hard and can continued to hit hard even in the late game.

Any questions, comments or concerns you see with this list or anything to make it better?

Looks good, of course, I'll say it now, x/7 is better than /D. But, the list looks pretty optimized, and 3 PS 8s is nice, to have the choice of who to move first. You'll want to protect Vessery, as he is a big part of your offence, and try to keep OL alive until the endgame.

Cool list. I haven't played with the TIE/D title yet, but Vessery is the best pilot for it. Especially with the other two pilots that rely on target locks. With "only" a Focus for protection/defense though, Vessery is the obvious first target and could be easy to take down. I played a somewhat similar list when Imperial Veterans was first released:

Inquisitor (PTL, v1 title, Autothrusters, Proton Rockets)

Omega Leader (Juke, Comm Relay, Stealth)

Ryad (PTL, x7 title, Twin Ion Engine Mk. II)

99 points

I won a tournament with it, mostly because Ryad was still all new and most players didn't know how to deal with her yet. It's a fun list that can hit hard and be annoying. Each ship is independent too, which I really like.

Thanks guys! I have to agree with you Darth Tam that tie/x7 is usually better with just about every other tie defender pilot, but i think Vessery works better with Tie/D title more so. I also agree that Vessery is probably the strongest ship and also the weakest ship in the list, so for me it will be not to put Vessery in bad exchanges and to play him smart.

admat I really like the list you have there! I may have to try it and incorporate parts of it into my list to see how effective it would be!

TIE/Ds are great, but think of them as two Tie fighters mished together with a worse dial. They really can explode very, very fast. While you'd think the tractor beam is effective, chances are it'll be the first shot of the round (because-1 agility on other shots is great), so you've got to punch through defenses. The most popular ships at the moment are X7 defenders, Asajj, Ketsu, Dengar, etc. None of them like big hits (4-5 hit results), so the following Vessery might be better:

Colonel Vessery

TIE/X7
Swarm Leader
Twin Ion Engine

This Vessery throws 5 dice per turn (feeding off of Inquisitor and Omega Leader), and six at range 1. You'll have the focus+evade defense that makes a defender live up to its name, and a target lock for offense. Sure, you lose the tractor beam shot, but you gain 2 dice on your primary attack and extra defense.
