Death Star trench: I was wrong

By CaribbeanNinja, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

I always figured it was the 'north pole' of the Death Star and the trench ran north-south.

Holy moly! I was wondering why they didn't pass over any docking bays when doing the run.

Man, *nobody* pays attention to PowerPoint.

This isn't true. When you look at some Death Star plan cutaways, there's a long reactor shaft line going into the northern latitudes. People who make these things pay attention.

I knew it wasn't the equatorial trench when I realized that trench was massive compared to the trench luke and company run down. Even watching Krennic's shuttle launch in Rogue One should make people guess. Then again, the launch kind of implies the Death Star is a lot smaller than it actually is, based on how big Krennic's shuttle is vs the Falcon.

It is clearly stated in the novel as well. Most of the 30 fighters create a diversion around the equator while a smaller group (basically those we see in the movie, so Red, Gold and IIRC Blue Squadrons) go to the north to attack the trench.

Red Squadron? More like Dead Squadron, am I right?
