Double Shadowcaster

By asters89, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi all,

Just wanted to get some thoughts on the following list:

Ketsu Onyo (38)
Push the Limit (3)
Dengar (3)
Glitterstim (2)
Glitterstim (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Shadow Caster (3)

Asajj Ventress (37)
Push the Limit (3)
Latts Razzi (2)
Rigged Cargo Chute (1)
Gyroscopic Targeting (2)

Total: 100

I played it for the first time last night against a 4 GS a-wing build with push/wingman and hull upgrade each, which was probably a pretty unrepresentative list as Asajj's abilty and Latts were pretty much neutered.

Just wanted some thoughts on if any improvements could be made... maybe another ept instead of push the limit for Ketsu? As she won't be able to use it at least twice per game when she pops glitterstim (to avoid double stress)

Outmaneuver. With the right positioning and Ketsu's pilot ability, you could be denying an opponent two green dice.

Thats's certainly an interesting option I hadn't considered. From the games I've played its not uncommon to use ketsu's ability to barrel roll a ship in a direction that means it can no longer shoot her. Outmaneuver would set Ketsu up for a shot at -2 agility rather than -1 and make it even more likely to trigger her title for asajj's shot.

The other advantage is that ketsu could use it out of the side arc, giving more or less the same effect as her pilot ability for those times when you can't get them in the front arc.

One interesting option for Ketsu is Burnout SLAM. Against lists that lack a turret you can go 5 straight, SLAM, boost and be basically behind the opposing force right away, you may even get to use his tractor beam effect on round 1 to mess up there opening move series. You still have enough room to make the 3 speed green turn to clear stress for round 2 where you should have Ketsu behind them and Asajj coming down the flank or in front (since she can be more of a tank). Maybe something like:

99 points

PILOTS

Ketsu Onyo (53)
Lancer-class Pursuit Craft (38), Push the Limit (3), Dengar (3), Burnout Slam (1), Black Market Slicer Tools (1), Shadow Caster (3), Engine Upgrade (4)

Asajj Ventress (46)
Lancer-class Pursuit Craft (37), Push the Limit (3), Latts Razzi (2), Rigged Cargo Chute (1), Black Market Slicer Tools (1), Gyroscopic Targeting (2)

Not sure how you're seeing that work...for her to be facing the right way, she'd need to do a 5k, which would stress her, and make her unable to do the boost.

And I'd be generally pretty wary of doing a speed 12 maneuver with a big base ship and so many Defenders out there. While it may be good against lists that don't have turrets, against x7s and their white K? You've just nicely delivered your list to your opponent in bitr sized pieces.

you don't end up all the way down the board, just most of the way so you aren't doing 5k, just straight. And are they really going to set the dial to white k on turn 0? You come down the outside and then bank boost toward their formation; you'll catch any higher Ps guys in arc before they move and maybe get the tail end of a slow moving ship to tractor beam.
