Save the Classic! The X-wing

By AwesomeJedi, in X-Wing

I've heard people say that they think that the X-wing is the best ship to use in HotAC because of its high versatility. So...make an X-wing fix that makes the X-wing more like it is in Aturi Cluster. I was thinking of an upgrade that gives you the choice to either an Elite Pilot Talent if you don't have one or an additional Modification. That should probably say that you cannot equip the card if your pilot skill is 2 or less.

Also to balance it out for the non-uniques, you could make a "stock model" upgrade that says you cannot equip Modifications and give it a cost of -1 so you could either field 4 Rookie Pilots with Proton Torpedoes and a 1 pt Astromech at 100 pts or 5 Rookie Pilots without upgrades at 100 pts. That upgrade would not have a pilot skill restriction.

Any thoughts? If anyone likes this can they make cards for me?

Save the classic!

Save the dream...

Listen kid, the T-65 was last years model. Either pony up for a new and shiny T-70 or go to Tochi Station to pick up some power converters for your out-of-date T-65. Either way, you're flying an X-Wing.

This guy where I play once did Luke, Wes, and wedge, I gunned down Wes immediately and got wedge to one hull left, leaving Luke for last because he wasn't as big a priority, man was I wrong, t-65s can be brutal if left unchecked, just like z-95s, plus two agility, while people may instantly think it's dead in the water, is still pretty good

The t70 is worse

Except regen poe specifically

I'd like to see a 0 point title for T65 XWings that lets them reroll 1 die every turn (call it "Veteran of the Rebellion"). Simple fix, would really help the model out.

That being said, T70s are still very good and with the right astromechs you can have 2 healing ships with good action selections.

Clearly they can still compete at worlds so they're not dead yet.

I'm sure in this era of dual cards that FFG can do something finally with the S-Foils. Open and closed.

What is the difference between Aturi Cluster X-wings and Regular X-wings?

It's not just 100/6 death match. HOTAC (or any campaign or EPIC) is the real fix for the entire game, but FFG will not deviate from the official tourney format.

He's talking about upgrade titles, so I'm wondering what the difference is between the ships, not the rules of the game.

And just how is that?

Proposing that HoATC is a fix for x-wing is like proposing that the problems of poor refereeing in football can be fixed by playing rugby instead. I don't agree with epic being the fix either as if the gestalt player hivemind was focused on breaking a 300 point format, I bet they wouldn't struggle too much there either. The tournament scene at the moment is actually reasonaly diverse, its just a shame that some ships have been left behind - and that is a particularly shame when one of those ships lends its name to the whole game.

More generally, I am absolutely for some sort of x-wing fix and eagerly looking forward to what FFG come up with (personally I think game effectiveness these days is largely tied to action economy - x/7, dengaroo, mindlink etc - so I think it would probably need to be down that route), but only time will tell...

S-foils in xwing is dumb. No to pigeon-wings, yes to scarif/yavin/endor veterans or Rogue Squadron.

We already have wing flapping with the U-wing - and its dual title card.
You don't want more then complain to Alex Davy, but there's no point in
pretending it isn't real or not going to happen...

Doesn't mean we want more of that s..t.

X-wings flapping in combat situation is not a thing in SW, period.

Quadjumpers in a combat situation is not a thing in Star Wars but it's going to happen.

Not to mention I did plenty of flapping in the Rogue Squadron games to get around faster...

Rogue Squadron game is arcade meh. Go play Xwing/ Tie fighter. Also "lock sfoils in attack position". :)

I've played plenty of X-Wing and TIE fighter... in any case, I'd rather see T-65s on the table whatever the 'theme' of their ultimate fix. If you insist then call it power distribution.

But vetoing it because it's 'not a thing on screen' has never been a valid argument as far as FFGs development is concerned. When do we ever see integrated astromechs in the canon for example?

'Chewie, weld R2 into position!'

Can't say I'd be hugely excited to see s-foils as the x-wing fix. I'd much rather see them do something to do with the different firing configurations of the lasers to give the x-wing a bit more punching power (or punching variety) as too often those 4 big laser cannons seem a bit flacid in game terms.

I just want Rebels to be able to take small ships without the need of taking Biggs. This is the ship that I hate the most.

You pay 26 pts just for a missile magnet whose only goal is to die. It is boring ship and I hate to fly it - my guess opponents hate to fly against it; unfortunately it is necessary when 4 or 5 attack dice are common and with the exception of Miranda and Corran rebel small ships just die without Biggs.

I would gladly see demise of Biggs (absolute monster nerf) if it would mean more variability for Rebels and more power for X-Wing ship.

Never said I don't want it fixed. But it would be better if it doesn't feel dumb. Plus, we don't have Rogue Squadron title for now, and that's sad.

You mean this :

Quote

The X-wing's laser cannons had various settings:

  • Single fire, where each cannon fired individually;
  • Dual fire, where two cannons in opposite positions paired up and the pairs fired alternately;
  • Quad fire, where all four cannons (one at each foil-tip) fired together, converging on the target; or
  • Stutter fire, where many underpowered beams were fired in rapid succession

In my game group we deploy X Wings on a regular basis and they work ok... With our House Rules of course.

3 straight is green. Veteran can equip Elite Talents and ONE of these..

1- 2 free points to invest in droids, torps or mods OR

2 - Rogue Squadron free title. If within range 3 of another squad mate gain one Evade token.

And they work fine.

Oh, it's this time of the week again.

Double post. Sry.

Stupid phone

I'd really like to see a Rebel veterans pack. Give us a new Y-Wing model (as we have A, B, and X additional rebels atm). And then maybe a new blue (or yellow) striped XWing. I know some are tired of moar XWings, but I'd really like that. Use the above idea to make a couple different XWing veteran titles... Scarif, Yavin, Endor would be nice... and maybe one squadron per A,B,X, and Y... Swipe the ones from Armada or Rebels that haven't shown up yet.
