Stridan Hux Ace's

By Nystan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Major Stridan — Upsilon-class Shuttle 43

Fire-Control System/General Hux/Systems Officer/Kylo Ren's Shuttle

"Omega Leader" — TIE/fo Fighter 26

Juke/Comm Relay

"Backdraft" — TIE/sf Fighter 30

Veteran Instincts/Collision Detector/Lightweight Frame/Special Ops Training

I Love the all First Order squad. I'm really hopeful for more good first order ships out of episode 8 just to flesh out the sub faction more.

I vote that you drop the systems officer and collision detector to add a fire control system to back draft. I understand the idea of using it with stridans ability, but at that point you're spending 2 points to make your moves more predictable. I understand that it will let you pass out a lock and hux in the same round but if you really need an extra lock then you can just coordinate that round instead. Plus the fcs just works all the time for back draft to make him more compotent; to me it is as vital to back draft as com relay is to omega leader.

Other than that I Love the squad. Cool theme, cool ships, probably performs pretty well.

(last note, obligatory mention of needing an autothrusters ship for an ace list.)

Pattern analyser is a nice touch, but I think Veteran Instincts is better than Primed Thrusters on backdraft, as PS9 is infinitely better than PS8.

I'll take this advice sir, thanks!

I posted something scarily similar in the link above. I call it 'The UnHuxables'

Major Stridan

FCS

System Officer

General Hux

Omega Leader

Juke

Comm Relay

Colonel Vessery

Adaptability

X7

You can mess with it a bit an work points around to give Vess VI or Crackshot.

I also realy like the idea of Backdraft. Love that guy.

How about this

Upsilon-class Shuttle: · Major Stridan (32)
Fire Control System (2)
Weapons Engineer (3)
· General Hux (5)
Targeting Synchronizer (3)
TIE/fo Fighter: · "Omega Ace" (20)
Crack Shot (1)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
TIE/sf Fighter: · "Backdraft" (27)
Crack Shot (1)
Fire Control System (2)
Special Ops Training (0)
Weapons Guidance (2)

I think OL is far more superior .
OA, IMO, has an ability that might looks cool but it's not that usefull, maybe with FCS it can be better

I dont own any TIE Def but they look tempting, for now I have the Inquisitor as a 2nd option.

I like this squad. I'm just very surprised to see General Hux there instead of Kylo Ren because you have such reliable crit dealers. Remember, whoever has Fanatical Devotion can get their [crits] canceled before [hits]. But I imagine more often than not you will be assigning Fanatical Devotion to Major Stridan, right?

Most of the time.

Actually Omega Leader is not a bad candidate for Fanatical Devotion. Seeing as no attacks against him will be modified the downside of no defensive focus is much less painful. Plus giving OL a mini Autoblaster is real trolly fun.

I usually think of giving the Fanatical Devotion to Stridan as a deterrent for my opponent to think twice before going after him.

It's an interesting situation. By giving Stridan Fanatical Devotion, you allow your other ships to use their focus on defense. That makes them comparatively tougher targets because Stridan will take whatever damage is rolled, except for that 1 agility. He also is now the big danger because one of his hits cannot be canceled, so he'll draw a lot of fire. Omega Ace and especially Backdraft are pretty good on their own, so that's not a bad thing, I suppose. Once Stridan is gone, they should be able to tackle whatever remains of the opposing squad. Hopefully. The other ideal is to get behind Stridan and take out the other two ships.
