CC Strategy question

By n8fillion, in Star Wars: Armada

Hi everyone,

Me and my friends are looking into starting a CC campaign and one of my friend had a good question. Why should we bother building a base on a low or no ressource planet such as Phemis? Is there an angle we can't see? I know some low ressources planets have diplomats, spynet or skilled spacers but are they worth it to have a base on them?

Thanks for any insight you can share!

So the way scoring campaign points works is this:

Win a battle at a neutral system - 1 point

Win a base/outpost defense - 1 point

Destroy a base/outpost - Point value next to the system.

So if you put a base on Phemis, you will get the resources from the base, but if your opponent destroys it, they will not get any campaign points. Where as destroying a base on Corellia gives 2 points (I think it's 2. I don't have my book near me.)

I think it's a good strategy, because you can lure your opponent to attack bases that won't let them score any points, so you can try to catch up or surpass them.

Remember you still get the base 25 for a base, no matter what the resource bonus is.

So if you win a battle, you might consider it even if it isn't a prime location

Yards are awesome of course. Spynet also decent. A spacer is OK too. Diplomats pretty much suck.

What is the point of Diplomats? I just don't get the actual benefits, I guess.

If the Rebels place their bases in the Outer (Non Lane, Non Corellian) Sectors, then they can use the swath of those, Plus Diplomats, essentially, to cut off the Empire from being able to declare their Special Assault from about Turn 2 Onwards.

Feel as if spynets are undersold here. We currently have three. It's pretty amazing. Even one is good enough to help deploy a ship with scar and make it effective.
