X-wing Aces

By Guest, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Fairly new to this however struggling to build a competitive x-wing aces list.

So far it does not matter what I build the imperial aces are all more durable (hard to hit) and put out more firepower.

Happy if there is another post on this that you can redirect me to, just really want to fly x-wings given that is the games name haha

Competitive X wings are not really a thing, which is tragic in a game called xwing.

But try wedge Wes and Biggs.

Always been a fan of the t-65, basic idea of this list is to kill em before they shoot back, stripping tokens and and hitting hard.

always try and focus fire one target at a time, and fly jake solo as a flanker so you can get in and get the procket off.

Wes Janson (29)

Veteran Instincts (1)

R2 Astromech (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Having all 3 at PS 10 and double regen was actually pretty effective, and if you want to run X-Wing aces, I would recommend trying this out

Wes Janson (29)
Adaptability (0)
R3 Astromech (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Wedge Antilles (29)
Crack Shot (1)
R2 Astromech (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)

Lothal Rebel (35)
Fire-Control System (2)
Hera Syndulla (1)
"Chopper" (0)

Total: 100

this works very well, against a lot of different lists. admittedly not my own creation, someone else posted it here a month or two ago, but it is bloody good.

Wes fires first, strips tokens, Wedge and the VCX do Wedge and VCX things. PS9 on the two aces will give you the edge in many situations. Hera is imperative here to keep the Ghost moving.

If you NEED the initiative bid, you can drop Crackshot and replace with Trickshot. Do not raise Wedge's skill w/adaptability as you need Wes to fire first to strip focus or evades so Wedge is more effective. I've done the trickshot build as well and it's fun to hide Wedge behind asteroids, then strike for 4 dice and negate the +1 agility bonus of a blocked shot!

Another way to go is to pack some heavy firepower:

Wedge Antilles [BB-8, Proton Torpedoes, Push the Limit, Guidance Chips] (38)
Wes Janson [R3-A2, Plasma Torpedoes, Veteran Instincts, Guidance Chips] (35)
Biggs Darklighter [R4-D6, Integrated Astromech] (26)
99 points

Wes shoots first, stripping tokens and shields, then Wedge follows up with the Proton and pushes critical hits through. If you've positioned well you should only be taking range 3 shots back at Biggs, and hopefully will have have just gotten off to a strong lead in the damage race.

Thanks guys will have to give these lists a try next time I get some game time.

Haven't flown it in a little but here is one list I made that I loved using, might go back and fly it again soon actually.

Wedge Antilles 29

-R2-D2 4

-Predator 3

-Integrated Astromech 0

Poe Dameron 31

-R5-P9 3

-Lone Wolf 2

-Autothrusters 2

Biggs Darklighter 25

-R4-D6 1

-Integrated Astromech 0

With all this talk of X-Wings, I'm surprised no one's made mention of this list:

X-Wing: · Wedge Antilles (29)
Trick Shot (0)
· R2-D2 (4)
Integrated Astromech (0)
X-Wing: · Wes Janson (29)
Veteran Instincts (1)
· R3-A2 (2)
Integrated Astromech (0)
X-Wing: · Luke Skywalker (28)
Expertise (4)
R2 Astromech (1)
Integrated Astromech (0)
-- TOTAL ------- 98p. --

2pt bid to help shoot first.

This list doesn't give a witch's heap about rocks, unlike Poe. R3 and Wes trigger, Wedge gets an extra attack die and still denies 1 agility (making it arguably better to shoot through rocks for him). And as long as it wasn't a debris field he flew through, Luke gets all attack Focus to hit, and one defense Focus to Evade.

There are tradeoffs, and Poe is probably overall tankier than Luke, between AT & R5-P9, but Luke is a more forgiving pilot, because the only action he would need to worry about is TL.

Not sure it gets anymore classic than this.

I'd like to hope a list like this would do well against /7 defenders but it wouldn't. Not a Parratani or whatever else is the new cheese of the month.

Sadly, this list will not do well competitively.

Played this list last night and managed to win which was cool, however mainly due to my opponent making massive movement mistakes. Poe does not seem to do allot in the games I have played with him however he is hard to take down. Wedge and Biggs were a great tag team, however I feel their movement options are poor for aces and my opponent didn't take advantage of that. Hope they have some future x-wing only upgrades in a future expansion.
