Major Rhymer's ability

By Visovics, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

so Major Rhymer's unique ability says " Friendly squadrons at distance 1 can attack enemy ships at close-medium range using all dice in their battery armament. "

Is the all-dice the combination of all anti-squadron + all anti-ships? I ended up in an indecision of whether in case a squadron has for example one blue for each it's the same blue or two different ones. Help me

Its, the squadrons anti ship dice. So a Tie Bomber gets to attack at medium range with a black dice, rather than attacking at range 1 only. Changes the range rather than the dice.

so the TIE phantom for example only use 4 blues or 4 blues and 2 reds?

No, A Tie Phantom would use its anti ship armament, which is 2 reds.

It always uses 2 reds vs ships.

Blues are anti-squad.

aww i was hoping to use the TIE/d's 2blue & 2 black

For clarification, "battery armament" is the formal game term for what you call "anti-ship dice".

When using Rhymer, Rhymer itself doesn't benefit from the extended range, right? Rhymer must still be distance 1 to attack a ship?

Yes, he does. In the FAQ. He is friendly to himself. When they don't apply the rule to themselves it usually reads "another friendly squadron."

Really happy to see questions like this. Indicative of growth in the playerbase.

Thanks!

Thanks.

I see, you meant the Tournament FAQ :)

Friendly squadrons that are at distance 1 of Major Rhymer can attack ships at close–medium range instead of being restricted to distance 1. This includes Major Rhymer himself.

I misunderstood your initial reply: Rhymer does benefit himself as well! I've been playing him wrong.

Which FAQ do you mean? The obvious one doesn't have Rhymer mentioned, using forum Search.

I hate to dredge this up again, but I would like a tiny clarification.

so squadrons have the other side of the ruler to use for their movement and shooting.

the range-band 1(out of 5) is the one they can shoot at squadrons and ships correct?

so Rhymer gives them black and blue range on the flip-side of the ruler now?

Squadrons shoot at distance. As you said they use one face of the rule.

Rhymer allows them to shoot at range what you must check with the other side.

Rhymer provided medium range no matter the color of the dice from the battery armament.

Friendly Squadrons who are at Distance 1 of Major Rhymer (including Rhymer himself), get the close-medium range rule (instead of Distance 1) when shooting ships .

In Major Rhymer's case, that's only when using the Single Black in the Battery Zone, since that is the only armament used while attacking ships . The white armament is used while attacking Squadrons, and of course, Squadrons are not Ships.

So that would mean a Firespray would be able to throw its 2 Blue dice in its Battery Armament at Close-Medium Range, rather than distance 1, while shooting a Ship.

In short, Rhymer works on Shots at Ships. Not all shots at Ships and Squadrons. Just Ships.

Its written as "All dice in the battery armament", because it does allow you to use Black Dice at medium Range, which ships struggle to do :D

It's super good, I just wanted to make sure I play it right before I put it in a list.
