Gold Squadron's Regional Warm Up Event!

We at Gold Squadron understand that many are traveling to participate in the Regional Championships and we greatly appreciate that. The level of excitement for this years Regional has totally blown us away and we really want to reward those who are traveling out for this weekend. We also want to have a few events for those who may not want to play in the long grind of a regional championship or those who simply can't make it out for the main event. Therefore we are offering two Regional Side events that players can participate in and earn unique prizes.

The first of of those events is the Regional Warm Up event which will be held on Friday February 3rd from 7-10 pm. Th is event will be two rounds of Swiss play with a participation prize for everyone in attendance. The participation card for this event is a special Alt Art commissioned for this event. The Card for this event will be Ahsoka Tano, it's part of a series of two cards that create one image of Vader fighting Ahsoka on Mustafar when combined. Every player will get the Darth Vader card as participation in the Regional Championship Main Event 2/4/17. The Ahsoka Card will be participation prizes for our Warm Up & Redemption event. In addition to the participation prize anyone who finishes with a record of 2-0 in the Warm Up event can receive a copy of our Paul La Rue Gold Squadron promo .

Additional prizes will be added to this event based on attendance. The format will be 100 point dog fight so you can practice your tournament list or try out some of the newest ships just released in Wave X. This event is really meant to be a fun side event for what shall be a great weekend of X-Wing. Space in the Warm Up event will be limited to 64 players and we will be taking registration for this event online starting Noon Sunday 1-22-17.

We have already announced that Wave 10 will be legal for our Regional Championship and all of our side events. It doesn't look like there will be an FAQ out to cover the new cards but I wanted to discuss how we will be ruling on some of their interactions. The first one I want to talk about is the one that will probably come up most. Kylo-Ren Crew + Darth Vader Crew. When you using these cards together you CAN NOT trigger the, “I'll show you the dark side” condition with Darth Vader crew. The reason is Vader's ability is triggered after the attack and I'll show you the dark sides trigger specifies during the attack. Until FFG releases some clarity on the issue this is how we will rule for all of our events. If you have any other ruling concerns you would like address please comment below thank you so much!

We are so excited to be hosting the Regional Championship in Chicago this weekend and we understand that no everyone can attend.
