New Forum Software? Angry Penguin is angry!

By Desslok, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Well I for one actually like this change. I was a "new theme" User so this isn't much different, and I'm grateful to have some buttons to press on the mobile version for formatting and links, and an actual responsive site makes reading so much easier (no scrolling back and forth)... no new emoji though :P.

Anyway people going to hate, that's fine it's always been that way

Edit: just because

Just testing

Wow. This is bad. And sizes of text and everything is so far off….

Emoji are smoother now, maybe they’re actually using the built-in font version on the client, instead of replacing them with JPEGs on the server side. But they really need to work out the issues with the avatars.

And this editing dialog box is horrible.

Sigh….

Well given that Orca are in the Arctic and Penguins are in the Antarctic...

Finally, someone more pedantic than I am!

Also seems that you cannot delete your own posts, so if you screw up and double-post (which is now much easier to do), you can't do much about it.

Except their pedantry is incorrect. Orcas can and do swim all around the ocean, and are known predators of penguins of all stripes.

The common one that this response applies to is polar bears and penguins.

Nice to see a "reason for editing" field finally. Looking at the profile page it sure looks like there is some work to do finishing it off.

Looks like the About Me is something other than a signature. I was able to see your link: https://sites.google.com/site/sturnsstuff/starwars from that tab - but that's all I see.

What's funny is that the "So-and-so" edited this post still shows up as Kabong, so it looks like a mod edited your post. Or like you have thise whole Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde thing going on for you.

and apparently we are no longer allowed to see who liked our stuff...Just somebody did....

So… we all now have secret admirers. Nothing wrong with that, at least until they become violent, creepy stalkers.

We do still get notifications of likes, but no one else but the poster can see who liked their post now.

I'm just going to assume every person liking my posts is RichardBuxton. He already post-stalks me :P !

And where is the “Show first unread post” button?:(

It's in two places, Brad. On the forum itself, you can click the star or circle button next to the thread name to get taken directly there (this is unchanged from before), or, once in the thread, there's an "unread content" button near the pathway at the top (pathway meaning the FFG Community > Roleplaying Games > Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG > [Thread Name] thing).

My bad, the notifications to members of someone liking a post are anonymous now. Boo! Why aren't we allowed to know who liked our posts? That was a feature of the FFG forums I really ... liked.

I may or may not have liked your post. You will never know!

For those asking earlier about viewing the desktop site on iOS you just have to long press the refresh button to get the option.

Don't worry, I liked your post.

Maybe we should just post whenever we like a post, claiming our likes?

I probably liked this.

What happened to the dropdown from our account name, that would show when new posts were made to threads we had posted in ourselves?

Hey! I can see who likes what now!

Seems that the folks at FFG might be reading the feedback ... and doing something about the complaints. Impressive!

Gimme gray background and it's all good.

I'll second that! White is hard on my old eyes, and chews through battery power on my laptop when I'm not plugged in.
