Simple. They must have a naturalist on staff and know not to aggravate an angry penguin.
New Forum Software? Angry Penguin is angry!

Either that or they just like that he always dresses so fancy. One or the other

Too bad you can't make that your avatar Desslok
Ugh. If you think you've got it hard? This is like walking into a room I'm familiar with but someone has moved the furniture! And, you know... the lights don't work.
Omg, how do I post this???
Jeez...

I can only imagine... things moved around, functions operating differently or just gone, missing borders, that's all bad enough visually.
Well, at least the old threads are starting to get indexed into "activity".
Now, instead of being under your profile and "my content", it's under the activity tab upper left, then drop down under "my activity streams" to "content I posted in".
That is handy. There's several old threads of mine that I'll occasionally bump - and this will make keeping track of them easier.

The old version (that was under the dropdown from your account name upper right) was how I followed most stuff, since actually following stuff spams your notices and possibly emails.

You can turn off email notifications when you follow things.

Thus "possibly".
I absolutely dislike that all my notifications disappeared! I understand that there's a lot of stuff going on in a merger, but did they have to merge the forums?
Edit: And somehow I lost all my friends....sniff...

Anyone having trouble with the messaging system? I tried sending a private message to a forum user that I've sent messages to before, and it said, "xxxxx can not receive messages". Do we now have to opt in somewhere to receiving messages?
PS: Other then not being able to add a signature, I'm happier now with the new software after the initial hiccups.
Just sent you a message, and it seemed to go through. The only time I've ever had issues sending messages is once to Marcie under the old software - and that was because her mailbox was full (BTW, empty your mailbox!)
My only beef is that it's really difficult to multiple quote messages and I'm still not a fan of the eye-burning theme.
Got your message. Not sure why I got the error. Could be full, as you said.
Edit: I was able to post a message to him using a reply to an old thread between us. Just couldn't start a new thread for a new topic for some reason.

And missing signatures.
I do miss signatures too, although being able to @ mention in a post is great. I also really like the saved drafts, often in the past I would half write something but get distracted only to come back and have had the page reload, not a problem now.
On my mobile Firefox, there is no way to cancel/erase a post from the editor. I have to manually backspace through everything I've written, and quoted segments can't be erased at all.

Ohh that sucks. Safari has a cancel button. There is also one to remove formatting from pasted content, rather useful.
Yeah, the new system here makes it even harder to see when your mailbox is overflowing, and they don’t give you any kind of notices or warnings or anything.
And they also make it a pain to clean out your mailbox of old messages.
Sigh….

Could you post a screen shot of your setup? Maybe I'm just missing it somehow.
It just pops up when the text restores, right at the bottom of the text box

Oh, I have that. But there's no way to cancel a post directly once I've started writing it, or remove a quote box. I guess I'll have to reload the page and then use the button to erase the restored content.
