First campaign/scenario - core, Dunwich or Rougarou?

By Ghost Dancer, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

I've played the core campaign several times solo but not played Dunwich yet. I'm going to be playing some two player games to introduce a friend. I could play the core campaign again but I know it really well now, and would prefer to play something new so we can discover the story together.

Is the Dunwich campaign OK for a first timer (aided by a reasonably competent player), or should I stick to the core campaign?

I do also have Curse of the Rougarou which is unplayed so could also do that, again is it advisable for a first time player?

i would stick to the core campaign, as for someone's first time, it can be quite confusing, especially with the other scenarios that have so many moving parts to them. The Gathering is the best way to teach people, it gives them time, and the odds aren't necessarily stacked against them in any way, but still provides a challenge in it's end of scenario baddy.

I agree with iGniGhted. The core scenario get you accustomed with how the game works. Could you start on Dunwich? Sure, but it might be a bit of a steeper learning curve.

OK thanks. Thought that might be the case but its always worth asking :)

Core + Rougarou + Carnevale as one campaign, then Dunwich.

The Gathering from the core campaign is definitely a good tutorial. But with someone teaching the game, really any scenario can work.

For demo games, I'd probably prefer Rougarou or Carnivale, so when people get interested and decide to get a core set, they can explore the whole campaign for themselves without being spoilered.
