I suspect that there's some self-selection going on in there. Most everyone with any experience knows there are better options out there, and thus doesn't take him, so pretty much the only people who do are brand new to the game and don't know what they're doing.

I'll write more on it if I do well. For now, I'll just explain my general philosophy as if you take Garm, you have to make the tokens worth something more than casual utility.

I've written more about Garm on my blog than is reasonable. Those tokens can change games.

Gonna be a tough one. Lots of good players in NOVA. Q and Steven are just a couple that could knock me out without batting an eye.

And I was hoping for a Vader win Oh well.. next time. Still would be good to put Garm on a radar as I think he is somewhat underappreciated.

Yeah, I hit a wall with Vader. The modified version I have might do better, but I'm not confident enough in it to take it for a Regional.

Ive heard of really silly risky builds like ISD dominator, but... yeeesh.

As a two way player i havent had enough opportunites to really play around with vader, but i ran him with a vic-1/spinals and a couple arq's sportig slaved turrets and a screen. Worked well.

Mine was Vic1 with Gunnery/Spinals, combat Interdictor, Arq, Raider and Goz with minimal squad cover. It worked out pretty well in the end, I think.

I experimented with multiple Arq (as well as flew against several Vader Arq builds) and found then lacking in durability, therefore VSD+Arq approach.

Are these generally like, very complicated lists? I was expecting something like VSD and arqs, in multiple but this sounds like some seriously specific usage.

Mine wasn't either. Point VSD at opponent, throw a lot of red dice and Vader them Combat Interdictor was there to protect Vader by putting him in a bulky speed3 ship that still throws some red dice and Raider was present because I didn't have points for Arq and also wanted a second ship with 2 AS dice

Seems like a 2xTRC Arq and an ISD could make Vader work

You prob have enough room there to stuff 2 gozantis too. under 5 activations you have to have a serious exact practice for getting the ISD to deal damage, otherwise you'll be run over by most lists who can control activation.

Sigh big problem, you cant and have upgrades or a fighter screen. So you have to really seriously gimp yourself in some way.

If you have the guts, you can remove Tua/ECM and one SFO for DOMINATOR. Or even remove flight controllers if your meta doesn't have a huge squadron infestation.

I wonder about dropping the TIEs and Gozantis for a pair of flechette torpedo raiders. Given how often those evades feel useless on a raider, spending them on Vader to amp anti-squad could work. Maybe keep an advanced just to buy time for raiders

Brikhause got the top 8 in within a couple of days of the tournament. I'm not sure which of the various results threads it went into though.

The full San Antonio results are not yet in. I am sorry but a lot of life things are happening and if I can get more than a scheduled 1hr to sit down I'll have all the lists typed up.
