Visenya's Hill (F 92) and Unique Characters

By Aertes, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I've got a question about this card's use.

It states: "choos a Character from any discard tile and put it in it's owner's dead tile". Now, lets figure that i choose a unique character and put it in a player's dead tile by using Visenya's Hill.

What happens if that player already controls a copy of that unique character?. Rules say that a player can't put in game or take control of a unique character if there is a copy of it in his/her dead tile already. But Visenya's Hill can make you get a copy of a card that you already have in game in the dead tile. Does something happen to the copy that is currently in game?.

No. The rules on unique don't say anything about not being allowed to have a copy of a unique card in play that is in your dead pile, only that you cannot play, put into play or take control of such a card. If a unique card is in play when an additional copy of it goes to the dead pile, nothing happens because there is nothing in the rules anywhere saying that something happens.

Of course, if that card leaves play (discarded, returned to hand, put into Shadows, etc.), the dead pile restriction will kick in any time they try to bring it back into play.

Short answer: the rules of unique and the dead pile restriction have no impact on cards that are already in play.

I never thought about that possibility :) thanks a lot ktom.
