So what is the big reveal that has been promised in this episode?

Phasma wasn't crushed in the trash compactor after all?

Finn wakes up from his coma?

Star Wars has mesh-tape(aka duct tape) for wounds?

Kylo has his own tie fighter?

No, it’s one of the First Order riot batons.

Ugh look at that grip; What a horribly impractical weapon... Looks cool though.

It’s the same type that the trooper used against him on Takodana in TFA, and we got stats for in Disciples of Harmony.

Am I the only one here who actually liked this trailer????!!! It got me really intrigued, particularly that end scene. .

Safe for the Space Bandaids all these have been known for quite a while now.

Personally I didn't hear about some big reveal.

I am aware. Statement still stands.

The hilt is one handed but is used in two? The placement of the hilt is parallel and to the side (like a tonfa. Used for blocking). Not effective in generating momentum for a swing typically associated with a 2 handed weapon. Now that I googled a few pictures it basically is just a over-sized tonfa.

@RicoD I should have engaged my sarcasm tag when I wrote those "reveals"

Just makin’ sure. :)

I know what the big reveal is.

Spoiler Space

Anakin's Force ghost has force babies with Rey. He's kind of a lech that way. I've read the fanfic.

I don't believe we have ever seen a Jedi halt blaster fire mid air. They are intentionally making them the most powerful Jedi ever for some reason. Guess i am finally getting old, but I don't like it.

I don’t recall stopping before, but certainly deflecting.

He probably could have stopped it, if he’d wanted.

We don't see a Jedi use telekinesis until Empire Strikes Back. We don't see a Sith electrocute someone until Return of the Jedi. We don't see a Jedi deflect lightning until Attack of the Clones. The movies always introduce new applications of the Force.

move along, citizen, nothing to see here

Is the big reveal that Luke was left traumatised by whatever happened?

Really, really like the Porg!

Back after watching TFA I figured Rey was Ezra's daughter and he left her in Kanan's care whilst he tried to help Zare rescue his son Finn from the First Order.

Of course I assumed Kanan eventually died but taught Rey to become self sufficient and completely unaware there was anything remarkable about her save for her belief her father was returning for her.

Now of course it's clear they have no idea what they're doing, hopefully TLJ WILL prove me wrong but I actually liked the trailer for TFA better simply because it felt like a legitimate improvement.

Well the movie didn't fail that badly, hopefully this will be a marked improvement on that!

Well enough of my bleak outlook have they revealed why Finn isn't top of the First Order wanted list?

Maybe the First Order aren't the head honcho out there after all?

It's incredibly optimistic (naively so, I'd say) to expect anything but subtle references to the cartoons out of a major film release. They want to focus on the Star Wars stories the majority of fans have seen, so focusing on Rebels characters ain't gonna happen.

Even when it would help their franchise as a whole?

I admit I can't see them doing something that sensible especially how they dealt with Rogue One but at least that seemed to be ok.

Have they said anything about the New Republic yet?

Would it help them make more money from the franchise?

While I agree tying in Rebels would be better for a more cohesive world and story, bringing in a whole lot of characters most cinema-goers have never heard of and acting like they're big parts of the world is going to turn a lot of people off, which is awful for Disney's bottom line.

I fear for a re-skinned of ESB (too many sources have eluded to it). And the new trailer has not eased that fear.

Never the less, I will go see it. Mainly because it is SW. However, I will wait a few weeks.

I also fear that the only "original" story lines will be seen in the one-off stories like Rogue One, the new solo movie and Obi-wan movie.

the best part about this trailer is the line where Luke says he hasn't seen raw strength like Rey's since Kylo Ren. Looks like a kick to the nads for the prequel's prophecy of the Chosen One. :D

Luke never saw Vader’s RAW power. There is no way to spin this as prequel bashing.

Vader had been a trained Sith for nearly two decades when Luke saw him. There is nothing raw about that...

I am sure it will feature stylistic elements and backdrops that are a reference to ESB. I actually enjoy that. It is the plot they develop against those backdrops and elements that I am interested in.

What is funny to me is how blown away a lot of people were by the Ring-theory and used it to hail the prequels as these masterpieces of echoes and vibrations of the OT but now many of those same people antagonize the ST over it.

I was not too bothered by the way E7 played with the images of the OT, at all and thought the characters and their path were more than enough to make it a whole unique experience. I am sure I will find that now too, that is if the plot is as much fun-loving and true to the SW universe as it needs to be.

And that brings me to my fear, is it going to be fun? Because I am not that interested in gritty for the sake of it. ESB was fun, there were laugh out loud moments, there were quirky things happening, there was funny banter and petty arguing. If anything E7 perfectly captured that. I hope E8 does that… The trailer points me to think we are going to see a switcheroo, where Rey goes full blown dark side and Kylo returns to the light. Setting up an episode 9 where Kylo is the hero and Rey the bad ”guy”, perhaps. At least that is what the trailer showed me, but then again these trailers are engineered to set you off on the wrong path all the time.

Luke says "Ive only seen this raw strength once before"

Everyone is over here assuming he meant kylo.

Maybe he meant the emperor. That dude shoots lightning! Maybe Rey can shoot force lightning!

*Its unlikely but a guy can hope right? ^_^

I would be very surprised if they not only try to redeem Kylo after murdering his dad, who is one of the most beloved characters in the movies, but also position him as a heroic protagonist. I don't think that's the sort of story that gets told in international blockbusters designed to sell toys to children.

He probably could have stopped it, if he’d wanted.

In game that was the absorb power, at least Saga edition. That is no longer canon however.
