What really this card does?
Strange solution
The card lets you take an Intellect test of 4. If you succeed, you discard Strange Solution and draw 2 cards. Then you record in your Campaign Log that "you have identified the solution."
Now, as for what that note in the campaign log does, we won't know until the future, and it should be different for each campaign.
as of right now, playing strange solution is somewhat pointless, for the cost to draw/pay for/and play the card negate the effect of drawing two cards, but, for certain investigators it does work as a deck thinner to get through your deck.
for instance in conjunction with a laboratory assistant, it will help Daisy get through her deck very quickly, and barring a nasty common weakness, have little drawback due to the passivity of The Necronomicon. Sure it adds an auto fail to the bag and takes away your draw, but there are much worse signature weaknesses to worry about.
seeing your entire deck is a common tactic in a lot of TCG games, as it might not be incredibly efficient, but allows you to get all the pieces of your puzzle much faster.
Laboratory Assistant, i feel is undervalued, and sure, may not be the greatest Ally, but i've gotten quite a bit of usage out of running 2 of in 2-3 player scenarios, as it just makes Daisy an all around better support character.
I've heard somebody else toying with the idea of using it with Rex just for the Wild icon. It's an Item, so he can get it back with Scavenging later. I haven't heard how well that worked out, though.
Do you think we will need to keep it in our deck throughout the campaign(even after Identifying it)? Or will it be a thing where once you use it you can swap it out when you upgrade your deck?

I think this is exactly what you do. Include it in your starting deck, hope you get it off first mission or two, add the note to your campaign log, then upgrade to something more obviously useful!
Agreed. It's a great starting card because you can use it for the wild icon and recycle with scavenging. But after you discover the solution, you can replace it with other items like Disc of Itzamna or Encyclopia that have have both good icons and useful abilities.
