Hammer Head Corvette rules

By thevaleyard, in Star Wars: Armada Off-Topic

after seeing rogue one, one of the first thoughts i had was how this could work in armada, i honestly think it would be a really cool mechanic, a ship to push another ship of course, this could be really versitile, you could push a ship out of its firing arc, or into debree or another ship, or into your firing arcs,

so naturaly my first insticnt was to build and cast a scratchbuilt one and now i want to use it

my understanding is from my research, on the limited infomation, is once the ship rammed the crew left the ship in escape pods, thats what they implied anyway according to pablo, so i would have the ship ram and then be just terrain

the way i propose this too work, is the ship would fuction as a CR90 with the exception of no side arcs, the ramming would both deal damage and push the ship, for every speed the ship is at, deals 1 black dice on collision, so if you speed 3, its 3 black dice, speed 1, just 1 dice, and so forth, the ship is then reduced to speed 1 and continues its movement 1 space, through the enemy ship, the ship pushs through the enemy ship is moved aside from the corvette, by rotating then moving it, to its new location,

from this point on wards the corvette is lost and cant be used or controlled, as the crew escaped, the ship can be removed from the table or left as debris,

id weigh the points at 20, considering how light the the ship is, and the fact its pressumably used to ram the enemy and removed so and only designed to last half the time,

i plan to make the card ill use farely soon so if anyone has any suggestions or improvements, post em cause i wanna improve this cause i feel like its a really fun concept

Do you plan on house-ruling somehow that Star Destroyer hulls are apparently made of paper mache when they touch each other (but not the Hammer Head)? :)

I do feel it's a little too specific for what it does, and no ship has an intrinsic special rule (aside from the Interdictor cruiser in the Corellian Conflict campaign, and even then it's a corner case). Pushing ships around might be a little bit too strong, I know that I'd value it way more than slicer tools or the like, just to 'spin you right round baby, right round. Like a record baby, right round-round-round. Ahem....

Much like Green squadron doesn't insta-kill ships and with a 99.9%~ won't insta kill any future SSd's, but gains bomber, it's meant to impart theme rather than perfectly recreate the moment. After all, we don't have a 'disabled ship, cannot move or shoot or do anything' effect yet. So, what about something like this: Lightmaker (name of that particular corvette). "when it completes a maneuver and overlaps a ship, it deals 1 face up damage card." so it has to overlap a ship, not be overlapped. Done, it's a ramming flotilla.

Although I'd be lying if I said my group hasn't talked about relativistic speed-to-damage potential for ramming. Especially after a speed 4 collision in the last CC game killed an ISD and only knocked one point off my corvette :P
