I just got an idea of infernal design, within my head that is pretty intriguing when thought out.

In the RH, there is that handy little translator device, my question is could it translate the language of the daemon, or heck for the GM, an insane personality.

This of course would be a completely corrupt device of course by i was wondering if it could be made or not.

Feel free to use this idea if you want i just wanted feedback on the concept.

Do you mean the lense thing? The one that makes them gradually go insane? I think it can translate any language as long as it is written down.

In the xenos section there are translator implants (page 206) that let the user hear all languages as his chosen one. I note that it has an extra cost for some ciphers and xeno languages, so you might need that one to understand what the daemon is saying.

But I notice that the daemons in the Dark Heresy book either have no speak language skill, or they have speak language (any one). Daemonhosts get speak language (all). So I'd say that if the daemon wants you to understand what it's saying, it will speak in a language you understand. So the translator only come up if the daemon doesn't want you to understand.

I can only imagine the daemon speaking if it wanted you to understand. Why would it bother otherwise?

i wouldnt want to even guess the machinations of a daemon, but what if you wanted to listen in on a daemonic conversation then a device such as this would come in handy...wouldnt it?

One way to impliment it would be for it to duplicate the effects of the Warp Tongue Sorcery in the Radical's Handbook. Summarized, it makes the user seem to daemons as if he speaks as a being of the Warp. If he wins an Opposed Willpower test, he gets a +10 bonus to Interaction skills against them, if he loses, they get a +10 to all tests against him (including WS tests).

If speech generated by it as above is heard by a human, it might replicate the effects of a Sorcery such as Whispers of the Warp designed to induce madness. The device could also be used, as you suggest, to make sense of the rablings of the insane. Perhaps it might also help interpret attempts at divination, and ancient prophecies or ciphers.

Sounds like a most facinating and malign artifact. I suggest you turn it over to the Ordo Malleus at once, before it can do serious harm

I would think that if a Daemon were conversing with another Daemon he would use some arcane and long-forgotten language rather than their own "daemon language" meaning that something like this would work I think.

Even if one was mad enough to use it, I'd suggest that they not implant it. Such a warp conduit could have... unfortunate effects on the body.

Well you would essentialy need a translator device thats become tainted by the warp in order to understand warp language.
