Multiple targeting beacons

By Gowtah, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Do you get a reroll per token in range or is it worded so that you only get 1 reroll at most?

I can't seem to decide which is right.

Special rule : While one of the second player's ship is attacking a ship that is at distance 1-2 of an objective token, the attacker may reroll up to 2 attack dice in the attack pool.

You get one reroll no mather how many objective tokens are there at distance 1-2

I am going to say you get the rerolls for each beacon within distance 1-2 of an objective token.

1.) Based on Bomber command center, a squadron with bomber can reroll multiple times if within distance of 2 flotillas with BCC. So, based on BCC both tokens would stack since each one would be a separate instance even though it is on one card.

2.) Other objective cards like Planetary Ion Cannons, Salvage Run, and Sensor Net make a point to clarify 1 objective token even if within distance of multiple objective tokens.

3.) Minefields is the other objective card with objective tokens and does not specify 1 token but if a ship ends its movement within range of 2 minefields both mines would go off and effect that ship.

That is the basis of my reasoning why you would get a reroll for each objective token within distance 1-2. Duplicate effects stack, did not specify 1 token, another card with similar effect.

You made some good points there, but I still think you can reroll once and I tell you why:

Targeting Beacons says "While one of the second player's ships is at distance 1-2..."

As it's a while effect, the RRG says you can only use it once during that instance:

"A “while” effect can be resolved during the specified event and cannot occur again during that instance of the event."

The difference between this and BCC is that with BCC you can reroll once for each BCC at distance 1-5, but although they are cards with the same name, the effect comes from different sources (each card on each flotilla). But Targeting Beacons is one only source, the objective, so you can't resolve it twice during the same instance.

EDIT: also, with Minefields it doesn't say "while", it just say "If a ship ends its movement...", so it doesn't have the limitation in that case and that's why it is also different to Targeting Beacons

Agree with Lemmiwinks, it's definitely only once.

Aside from the "while", the objective reads:

... A ship that is at distance 1-2 of an objective token...

Not "for each objective token at distance 1-2" or "for each such objective token." The ability is binary, on or off, and is triggered by being at distance 1-2 of an objective token, not by each objective token at distance 1-2.

Yeah, definitely a single reroll because of the while timing.

I was hung on reading it like minefields, but as Lemmy said this card has no timing but rather a "if" instead.
