Deciding between several Scum lists for regionals... help appreciated

By schmi, in X-Wing

Okay, so I know I want to run Bossk for sure. My problem is his wing man. I know Dengar is popular in this position. Here is a list:

Bossk + Veteran Instincts + “Mangler” Cannon + 4-LOM + Zuckuss + K4 Security Droid + Inertial Dampeners (46)
Dengar + Expertise + K4 Security Droid + Unhinged Astromech + Punishing One (53)

99 points.

Advantages:

Both PS9

Dengar can do a ton of damage

Disadvantage:

Dengar gets focused really fast and I am left with an easily solo'able Bossk

K4 Security Droid works way worse than Dengar crew in this instance

So, I tried a list with Tel instead. It is more survivable, just lacks the damage bursts and PS.

Bossk + Veteran Instincts + “Mangler” Cannon + 4-LOM + Zuckuss + Dengar + Inertial Dampeners + Maneuvering Fins (47)
Tel Trevura + Veteran Instincts + K4 Security Droid + Unhinged Astromech + Glitterstim + Punishing One + Hull Upgrade (52)

(could change Tel's EPT to push and drop fins)

Advantages:

More survivability

Dont care about arc for Tel

Tel will likely be my end game

I get to use Dengar on Bossk

Disadvantages:

PS

No Dengar return fire crap

I have also seen Asajj and Ketsu as wing mates. They seem okay and would allow for a homing missile on Bossk. However, they don't do a ton of damage and are more predictable.

Thoughts?

Ive been flyig Tel/Bossk since last Regional season, and triple slaver for most of the store champ season. Inertial Dampeners are an autoinclude on YV-666. Drop Fins for it. Its a lifesaver. Furthermore my Bossk has Crackshot instead of VI. Its not necessary to VI him. Mu Tels loadout os completely different. Predator, gonk, r5p8, hull upgrade, cargo chute, title. I dont like ptl as is hampers your dial. With gonk you can recover and not feel restricted to greens for full mods.

Apparently Ketsu+Bossk is a think. Drop thier agility with Ketsu, then Bossk follows up with a fully modded cluster missile to the face. I've never played with or against that squad though, so I can't tell you specifics on it. Seems fairly customizable though, as long as you've got the standard tools equipped for wrecking green dice.

Ketsu and Bossk is really good. Fearlessness and Cluster missiles on Bossk can do up to 10 damage on its own. I've "one-shot" IG-88 with an evade token and Glitterstim popped. By far my favourite X-wing achievement!

If defenders are a thing in your meta (of course they are...), this list eats them alive. Ketsu throws a defender into Bossk's R1 death zone, then Ketsu shoots first, at least stripping tokens, maybe getting damage through (2nd TB token), then Bossk kills it before it shoots. Then the game is likely already over.

I got a regional top 4 finish with it last weekend. Lost to Rey. Rey is probably the biggest weakness of this list.

In case anyone cares:

I took Bossk with homing missile and Dengar with expertise and k4 etc. Went undefeated in top 8 and lost in the top 4. I didnt really see any lists that it was very bad against. Although, it doesn't like shadowcasters very much.

Nice job! I have played against a similar list a few times and it's always a pain. With that list you can pretty much tell who will win or lose after the second round of combat.

I second the earlier post about trying ketsu bossk, it is pure brutality. I went with a more late game version

Lancer-class Pursuit Craft: · Ketsu Onyo (38)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Engine Upgrade (4)

K4 Security Droid (3)

· Shadow Caster (3)

Burnout SLAM (1)

YV-666: · Bossk (35)

Veteran Instincts (1)

Cluster Missiles (4)

"Mangler" Cannon (4)

Guidance Chips (0)

· Zuckuss (1)

· 4-LOM (1)

· Dengar (3)

Burnout SLAM (1)

-- TOTAL ------- 100p. --

Vi for ps 9, now you sit above most lists in pilot skill, giving you a better chance to blow things up before they can ever shoot back, and burnout slam allows you to get out of dodge and reset after you brutalize your first target. It's great one game I 3 turned to 3 turn slam ketsu into a small base ships range one and threw him on the rock, he didn't even think I could reach him that turn

I agree with your PS comment. I found that having both of my ships at PS9 was one of the strongest parts of the list. Being able to pop off shots before the enemy is quite important in a list like this.
