Beyond the Threshold

By Ashgur, in Mansions of Madness

Hey guys ;-)

this is a question to all of you who do already own the "Beyond the Threshold" - Expansion:

How is your experience with the new missions so far? Are they fun to play? Whats about the replay - value?

I would love to hear some opinions ;-)

All the best,

Friedel

Is beyond the threshold the one that comes with the dinner party murder mystery type scenario?

Yes, this is one out of two ;-)

It is Ok...

only played "Gates of Silverwood Manor" so far.. and we lost .. :(

with out spoiling it ....

I have to say It's a tad annoying.. I have all the expansions so you do a lot of looking through tiles for room's then get out the doors and search. So make sure you split up the tiles and parts so when some thing comes up you get the room and some one places the doors, search and items.

I do like that it adds a 90 min scenario !!! have not played it yet but like to see more of the short ones.

But the one we did after we got the hang of what to do we started to like it and then it just ended abruptly with no warning and we were like what the hell!!!

But I guess you can say it has replay value because we are determined to win it as some point !!!

Its Ok but nothing Super impressive or game changing..

I have played both scenarios and I enjoyed both.

The short one, Vengeful Impulses, adds a nice twist to the usual scenarios with an "Agatha Christie" sort of intrigue, with a dinner invitation and guests to interrogate, some puzzles and interesting developments. It's also two different maps for the same adventure, and five different NPCs that change for the dinner (I think it's four guests out of that five NPcs pool, that keeps changing per game). It's worth playing a two or three times to see both maps and the different changes, although it's definitely short.

I played Gates of Silverwood Manor too and, as Blimeboy, we lost closer to the end (Or I think it was). It's definitely a more difficult scenario but mostly because of the Mythos events rather than the fights. The house is also very interesting and some tiles change, which is also a nice mechanic.

I agree that, with the core game and two expansions, the tiles sort of pile up a bit, so you should stock them by collections or you will spend some time searching for the specific one like it has been mentioned above.

If you haven't purchased the expansion yet, for the price I would personally encourage you to. Even though it has less tiles and monsters than other expansions, for the money it costs I felt I had more in return in comparison.

Just an opinion :)
