Omega Squadron

By Piscopas, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Trying to build a good First Order list, and this is what I've come up with. Would love some feedback:

Omega Squadron (100 Points)

  • Omega Leader with Comm Relay & Juke
  • Omega Squadron Pilot with Comm Relay & Juke
  • Omega Squadron Pilot with Comm Relay & Juke
  • Omega Specialist with Crack Shot, Collision Detector, Concussion Missiles, Special Ops Training & Guidance Chips

Omega Specialist with Crack Shot, Fire Control Sistem, Sensor Cluster or Ligthtwire Frame, Speical OpsTraing?

I prefer a ship more durable that one great shot and after nothing.

Then you would be wrong. Missile sf is the best sf.

Okay. Flew this list against Obiwonka. He was flying Chewbacca with Rage, Nora with R2, and a Bandit Squadron pilot. In the first round of shooting, we traded an Omega Pilot for the Bandit. Throughout the rest of the game, I couldn't get the range or target lock on the right target to actually get the missiles off. Both of us had terrible green dice all night. I was unimpressed so far. I may keep it in my back pocket to play for fun against new/younger players, because I like the theme. It just doesn't have the oomph to be truly competitive, I think.

Getting a Hotshot Copilot into this list somehow would be good to help push through damage with those Jukes.

@Piscopas, I like that squad, but I would not have considered a Concussion Missile on Omega Squadron Specialist. My first thought when I saw your squad was, "No Omega Ace?!" Here's my take on an Omega Squadron.

Omega Leader

- Juke

- Comm Relay

Omega Ace

- Push the Limit

- Comm Relay

Omega Sq. Pilot

- Crackshot

Backdraft

- Veteran Instincts

- Fire-Control System

- Special Ops Training

Even though Backdraft isn't very defensive here, he does a lot of work in this squad. Omega Ace doesn't usually get his ability off more than once because he is doing Focus + Evade and drawing fire his way (people really don't want him to set up a target lock). That allows Backdraft to get in there and do some damage. I don't even know if Backdraft is part of Omega Squadron, but I let it slide. You could drop it down to an Omega Squadron Specialist, and use those two points for Lightweight Frame or Sensor Cluster.

...

However, I am very keen to try out some squads with two TIE/sf's, Homing Missiles, FCS, and Targeting Synchronizer. On the first round, 1) they both focus; 2) the first ship attacks and picks up a target lock from FCS; 3) the second ship uses that target lock to fire its homing missiles; 4) pick up target lock from FCS; 5) the following round, the first TIE/sf can now fire its Homing Missiles with the lock from the other TIE/sf. What's even better is that you can hold onto those missiles until the are needed most - sometimes the beta strike is better than the alpha strike. I don't know, just something I've been mulling over for the last couple of days.

Trying this out next week:

Quickdraw

-Adaptability

-Accuracy Corrector

-Sensor Cluster

-Spec Ops Training

-Twin Ion Engine

Omega Leader

-Juke

-Comm Relay

Zeta Leader

-Wired

-Weapon Guidance

Epsilon Squadron Pilot

Just trying it out to see whats what.

@Parakitor -- I really like that list. I think I'll try that one next time, except I think I'll swap out Calculation instead of VI on Backdraft.

As for theme, I don't think they've said which squadron Backdraft is in, so it doesn't ruin the theme, in my opinion.

Quickdraw- VI, FCS, Homing Missiles, Title, Chips
Backdraft- VI, FCS, Homing Missiles, Title, Chips
Omega Leader- Juke, Comm Relay

Profit.
