Cross Faction dials?

By Surge4tw, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Are we allowed to use Scum Y-wing dials for Rebel Y-wings, or any other cross faction example.

or!

do we have to buy a few of there 3 packs of faction specific dial protectors

I know casual it doesn't matter, what is the tournament ruling?

Thanks in advance!

You can mix and match miniatures and dials between factions, but not base tokens or pilot cards.

FWIW...

There was an email prior to S&V coming out that said you couldn't share dials between factions, so you'd need S&V dials for S&V ships, and Rebel dials for Rebel ships.

There was a version of the FAQ released for less then 24 hours that said the same thing, but the next FAQ reversed that. It's likely that they had at one point planned on that being the rule but changed their mind and didn't update the FAQ.

But as it stands now, it's like thespaceinvader said, you can mix and match Dials and Models, but not tokens or pilot cards.

The paint job on the ships and dials doesn't matter provided they still do their jobs.

VandorDM mentions a FAQ briefly saying they had to match. He is right but I'm thinking the "less than 24 hours" can be revised down to "less than 12" and I don't even think it was up 3 hours before being corrected. It was a "blink and you missed it" FAQ that only got attention because it was such a divisive topic for some stupid reason.

Oh, and the dial protectors you use don't matter either. You fly an 8 ship TIE swarm but have a three pack of protectors with one from each faction you should still be good to use them all.

What you cannot do is use am x-wing dial for a y-wing, or a defender dial for a decimator no matter how awesome the latter option sounds.

I honestly don't remember how long it was, I think you may be right about it being like 3 hours... But I know it was less than 24 so I played it safe. :)
