I recently bought a consignment cabinet (used) pair of core red box TIE Fighters. They were missing a set of ship tokens but have all the cards. Is it possible to have five TIE Black Squadron (or other non-unique) pilots but only four ship tokens? Is there any way to get replacement tokens by themselves?
Missing Ship Token Query
There are three expansions that TIE Pilot cards and ship tokens could have come from. The Core set comes with 6 double sided ship tokens and 9 pilot cards (2 of each generic and 1 for each unique). The TIE Fighter Expansion comes with 3 double side ship tokens and 6 pilot cards. The Imperial Assault Carrier comes with 5 double sided ship tokens and 10 pilot cards ( 2 of each generic and 1 of each unique ).
I don't think I've ever seen anyone selling just the ship tokens and as far as I know there is no way to get them separately.

Can I play without them? It would be cheaper than trying to order from UK & paying a high exchange rate. Maybe I'll ask the store I bought them through if they know where the missing ones are.

There will probably be a similar singles retailer in your country, at a guess.
You can play with proxies in casual games as long as your opponents are happy with that, but f you want to go to an official tournament using those pilots, you're going to need the proper base tokens.
If there's a specific tournament you're looking to be legal for, and you know some of the other people that are planning to be there, you can maybe arrange to borrow the cardboard you need for one day.
Hey - I ran into a similar issue where I bought a ship and the token sheet was missing, so I only had one half of the dial. I sent an email to Asmodee Games (they do all the supply requests for X-Wing Miniatures) and they were 100% cool with sending me another token sheet. They didn't even charge me for it. If you click through the support pages on FFG's site you can send a request for them.
