The Carrion Spike - A candidate for X-Wing?

By CaptainNippon, in X-Wing

Having read the first ten issues of Marvel's Poe Dameron series, I can see the Carrion Spike make its way into X-Wing.

Why? With Terex being introduced as an Empire/Scum hybrid character, this could be an opportunity to bridge the gap between those two factions in the game. Rebels already have gotten access to illicit equipment through Sabine and Smuggling Compartments, so why shouldn't there be overlaps between scum and empire as well?

Rules wise, FFG could explore new design space by giving the ship a ramming mechanic:

"When this ship overlaps an enemy ship as a result of your own maneuver, roll one attack die for each unit of distance traveled. After this attack, roll one additional die. If you roll hit or crit, your ship suffers one damage."

In order to not make ramming too easy and explore a different design space, the ship could have a large ship base that is only half the width of a normal one (considering the Carrion Spike is, well, a spike).

Add to that a Terex Pilot card that enables some sort of cross over with the scum faction and a Tarkin(!) Crew card related to intelligence (something similar to Cassian Andor or Intelligence Agent with a different spin on things) and profit.

The carrion spike is about the same size as the cr-90 and imperial raider.

Unlikely we are going to get another imperial epic ship for several more years, and even then, they will likely look for something from the newer films rather than an obscure (and exceedingly boring looking) ship from a novel.

Fair enough, for some reason I thought it was way smaller than that.

I personally would be thrilled with the carrion spike, i havent finished the novel yet but it seems to be a remarkable ship.

I suppose the general idea could be translated into Epic, including the 1/2 base width, for a slightly different approach to a Huge Ship.

The Carrion Spike has cloaking device. Any ideas for cloaking an Epic ship in game?

CR90 / Raider size seems like a perfect contender for Armada. They're in need of a new ship since the rebels are clearly on the verge of getting the Hammerhead Corvette and MC75.

Maybe something like this: Don't deploy the ship as usual. After everythng else has been deployed, you may deploy the carrion spike. When deploying, you can treat the left and right table edges as if they were your deployment zones. If you deploy on either the left or the right edge of the table, you can not deploy on your opponent's half of the table."

Instead of having a huge ship perform cloaking and decloaking actions the same way small ships do, it could just perform an abstacted decloaking action in order to take advantage of its deployment.
