Strategy post request: How to double arc with harder ships at long range?

By Blail Blerg, in Star Wars: Armada

Hello,

Can someone explain how to practice for this?

I'd say its pretty tough for me still to consistently get double arcs on Cr90s, Arkittens, and especially the VSD and the AF _at long range_.

I'd say the VSD and AF really need that help when at long range to deal respectable damage.

Activations, overall battle movement also might be part of the equation.

My trick for CR90's: their arcs lines are at 45* angles from the ship's lateral and longitudinal axes. Point the ship directly at the target and then use that two-tick last yaw joint that it has at every speed to point the arc line right at the target at any distance. Bonus: the offset even puts the arc line pretty nearly dead on the centerline of the maneuver tool if you do it this way.

I had a rock or the board edge last I tried that. How do you usually plan for those?

Equip Jaina's Light.

Always take nav. :)

Also, and sorry this is a little outside the scope of the OP, but unless I have a strong reason to think otherwise, I generally plan for my opponent to move straight forward at his current speed, and orient my ships to intercept them when they reach that point. Maximizes my ability to adjust my course to account for their course changes. So if I see that there's a rock between where they'll be in a turn or two and where I want to be shooting them from, I shift speed or course to change our intercept location to one that's not obstructed.

Or, equip Jaina's Light. :)
