protectorate starfighter builds?

Just curious whats out there, one of my favorite ships in the game, just not sure if there are any 3-4 squad builds for them or what to fly them with at the moment.

Fenn: Concord Dawn, Mindlink, Autothrusters (32)

Teroch: Concord Dawn, Mindlink, Autothrusters (30)

Manaroo: Mindlink, k4 security droid (customizable upgrades)

Total- somewhere between 94-100 depending on upgrades, but ideally around 96.

Old thread but I'd be interested in this too. After seeing Rebels I'm really liking Fenn and his mates.

Is this too fragile to be flown as a squad? As a rebel player I'm not used to having no shields at all.

Also, the upgrades suggest it needs to be in arc!

I like the reckless nature of this fighter but I don't want to be destroyed in a couple of turns every game...

If you've never played this kind of ship before, and you are used to rebels, then there will most likely be a fairly steep learning curve since it flies very different from any rebel ship (with the exception of the a-wing)

If you like generics, and you have enough models, you can try 5 zealous recruits. The firepower is quite good, but they are fragile of course. Often, blocking will be key to getting favourable damage trades (although not always----depends on the opposing list and the boardstate)

if you just want to fly all aces, you could run Fenn, Teroch & Kad all with title, thrusters & push the limit. I've done it before (not competitively) and its fun and can still beat quite a few things (but has enough bad matchups to not really be tournament worthy, imho).

If you're just looking for one or two in a list, then you probably want Fenn first, Teroch second. Mindlink is really good on these guys, but lets not pretend that the bonus focus tokens makes them easy to fly and easy to win with. Such lists still require a lot of practice to get good results.

They work well inside or out of arc with the title and autothrusters. Fenn and Teroch have solid abilities. Personally I think the Low PS pilots are difficult. This is a ship that wants to bounce in and out of arcs to gain the best advantage, which makes Fenn tough at PS9. PTL or mindlink are both decent EPT, action efficiency is important!

I just like the idea of them but deliberately flying into people's faces is unusual!

With the title and Fearlessness I guess you are covered a little, especially with Fenn's ability. But does Fearlessness commit you too much to just flying head on?

I can see how smashing lower PS ships apart would be fun, but as you say having the general Protectorate pilots would reduce that threat a bit.

If I was to take 3-5, what would I be aiming to do? Mainly arc-dodge until I see the chance for the killer head-on charge?

Fearlessness is a trap. To get range 1 you usually have to boost, and with fearlessness, that leaves you tokenless for defense. Attanni mindlink and PTL are your EPTs of choice for Fenn and Teroch.

Fearlessness is a garbage EPT for the fang fighter (don't let the fact it comes in the box fool you!). PTL and Mindlink are so much better on these guys.

Predator is good for Kad Solus (I forgot to mention that above).
