Opinions on my rebel list?

By Kanelbullen, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I made this list for casual play just for fun. Any advice? What do you think? I call it the Biggs party.

Biggs Darklighter

R5-D8(3)

Hull upgrade(3)

B squad pilot(22)

Fire control system(2)

Heavy laser cannon(7)

Proton torpedoes(4)

Ion torpedoes(5)

B-wing/E2(1)

G squad pilot(19)

Vectored thrusters(2)

Idea is that Biggs and Blue fly as a pair with Biggs taking shots away from the Blue as Blue pours hellrain upon the enemy, and the A-wing harasses and arc dodges the enemy. Is there a better way to do this?

That's... way too many points on a simple B-Squadron pilot. Either get rid of the torpedoes or the HLC - you can upgrade the A-wing for that points.

If you want to use a B-wing, even in casual, it's best to keep it light (naked or just FCS), or if you just want to have fun with it, go for Keyan Farlander + source of stress (Push the Limit, etc.) or Ten Numb with a Mangler Cannon. Also, you have E2 but no crew :)

The usual opinion on Biggs is that he works best if you don't put too much points into him - a 1 pt astromech, such as R4-D6 + Integrated Astromech should be enough, he won't really live long enoufh to use R5-D8 (and even if he does, the hull repair is not guaranteed).

Oh so many things to improve the list.

1) Chardaan Refit. It's 2 free points on that A Wing

2) Instead of Hull Upgrade, use Integrated Astromech - it's ALMOST the same exact thing, with the exclusion of R5-D8, it's 100% superior, R5-D8 provides a fringe scenario where HU could be better than IA.

3) With extra points, if you want to put a regening droid on Biggs, use R2D2. R5D8 (and R5P9 for that matter) consume his action, which means that he can't turn an eye into an evade, pretty much negating the regen by allowing extra damage through.

4) If you're going to use an HLC on the B wing, don't bother with Ordnance. Likewise, if you're going to use ordnance, don't bother with the HLC - you can only use one at a time anyways.

31pts is too much for Biggs. A simple R2D2 and Integrated Astromech will get you more mileage for less. Most people toss R4D6 and call it a day, although he is in an Epic ship, something people just getting into the game don't have, so just toss any 1pt bot on him like R2 Astro along with IA (which is essentially a super hull upgrade letting you cancel crits).

Dont stack too much on ships. You could have another ship instead of all that stuff on your B-wing. More ships = more dice, which is usually better. If you are just looking for a three ship build with those particular ships, just proxy the upgrade cards you dont have.

Homing missiles on Jake, along with HLC on raging farlander gives you a very nice and deadly alpha strike that you can easily setup thanks to Biggs. Normally you go proton rockets on Jake, but the combo of HLC and Homing Missile, denying your opponent range 3 bonus is too good to pass up. Collision detector on Farlander lets him just plop down on debris and get offensive mods. The recruit erases both stress from rage when Farlander uses his ability (a combo I just recently learned!).

As always, have fun, good luck.

wurms has a nice list for you. :) Agree with him
