What do you use to carry your list on gameday?

By MashedBROTATOES, in X-Wing

I'm looking for some recommendations on ways to transport my ships when I play at my FLGS. I don't feel like bringing a huge Plano box when all I need is 2-3 ships. Any recommendations? I'd obviously need it to store the ships, cards, tokens, and maneuver templates without being too big and bulky. Any help would be great!

I use the All-In-One Every-Need-Catered-For Guaranteed Certified Wonderbox Deluxe

Well ****, that's fancy!

Not really, the guy I bought my original X-Wing stuff from had a foam storage thingy cut to the size of the X-Wing box, just with slots for some of the original Wave I ships.

Turns out it's ultimate storage & battle tray combination a boy could wish for. I regularly use it for carrying two lists at once, along with all the necessary tokens, templates, dice, asteroids, pilot cards, damage cards, upgrades...

I've got a cogotwo template tray that I can usually balance everything on for a tournament, but care is needed not to have anything go flying.

Feldherr case and a small plano-like box for tokens/dice.

For UK players Class Ohlson has these fairly cheap bits and bobs boxes that you can fit a tournament kit into. The compartments can be made bigger or smaller; I've never broken anything in one. It's no fuss and fairly minimal. The brand is 'Tactix' or something. DIY section.

Individual plano tray for the star wars bric a brac.

Pocket flask for the Bourbon.

I honestly just use the box from my TFA Core Set(with it's clear plastic trays). It's, like, the perfect size for 3 small ships, which is what I usually end up running.

I put the ships together and lay them down in the trough, and keep all the cards/dice/tokens in the larger sections.

Other than that, I just bring one of these things for my movement templates.

all these lovely options and I just keep the plastic wrap from the boxes the ships come in and shove them in a frayed backpack

My "just a few lists" option is a Feldherr Mini Plus. Use it most of the time equipped with two foam trays and a feldherr compartment box for my tokens, while the templates fit nicely into the mesh pocket of the bag.

The compartment boxes might be difficult to get overseas via amazon. Speaking of compartment boxes, if you want to get even smaller, using a compartment box, one tray of raster foam, customize for one large ship, tokens, cards and 2-3 small ships might suit your taste even better. Small, multi-purpose use without buying more feldherr foam, combines rather well with your big plano.

The TFA plastic trays should work rather well too, but they lack the option for large base ships.

Though to be honest, most of the time my Mini-Plus stays at home and I just grab the medium one as is, all list I fly on regular base fit into it, plus the token compartment, etc and a light bag with shoulder strap is rather convenient. Having 4-5 lists avaible is as well convenient as it removes packing, decent time saver. Thanks to the padding it's super comfortable as well, so the extra size does not bother me at all.

If you are in the US, you can get one of a number of little trays that hold a little more than one game night's worth of ships. I think Black and Decker make some. There are others, too. They come with little customization trays in them. Many people start with those, but soon run out of space. I think almost any hardware store would have them cheap. They have a handle on them and the lid that flips up on them. It should be enough to hold your templates, tokens, cards, dice, and ships. You might even be able to get two lists in it!

It fits large ships too if you configure the compartments right. I can carry a few lists in this depending on how I configure things. I have a 2nd that is filled up with aturi cluster stuff (that required cutting). But they latch together!

I have a plastic version of this that was a few dollars that I also take now and again to tournaments. Works great between tables:

I just throw everything in a Wendy's bag that I had lying around. Not the best, but super cheap.

These are my son's (his 7th birthday gift, last month, including the templates and some tokens):

The grey border is actually the tray's cover, which could be used on top of the tray to carry all the other stuff, it's Sabine themed (since he agrees that she's awesome):

My tray is currently coverless (and only primed), but imagine the same in deep blue.

We use cheap TactiX tool boxes to carry our ships and tokens to the event, then just keep the modified token trays to carry tokens/dice/damage cards/etc. It's the top right one in this picture, it fits just about any list you can think of, and my Stanley boxes' storage cube more or less fit in it:

I have a bunch of Plano trays and a backpack if I am going to a casual night and might not have a squad pre-planned. For tournaments, I use a converse shoebox. It's skinny enough to fit between most game mats and tall enough for me to reach over ships to grab damage cards without knocking ships over.

I found a photo box with a Star Wars theme on the outside for about $3

I cut down some packing foam I found at work to fit my ships and other goodies.

The top works well to carry stuff from table to table and with a size of 4.5" x 8" x 11" it's kind of like carrying a shoe box around.

**** Dave, that's a fancy tray.

I bought a cookie sheet from Walmart for $2, a 7-day pill case for tokens for another $2, and a little Sterilite box (about 70% the size of a shoe box) for another $2.50.

If I'm feeling fancy or want to bring 3 or 4 squads, I'll add on a Plano Pro-Latch 3650.

A cardboard shipping box with my medals from the past store kits attached to a piece of cloth glued to it.

No, I'm not joking.

Yes, I do call it my ghetto wind chime.

I take just one of these, but you can connect multiples to each other. I was able to fit my Hera/Nora list in it and other stuff, like stickers I got from some of the podcasters that were there.

Hey, my first competitive X-Wing game (which I won) I sat next to Blair Bunky!

I always just take exactly what I'm planing to use, and pack it in the core set box. I can fit pretty much everything I need for a 100 point list on there and carry it in a small backpack.

Same here. Has the advantage of not costing a cent, too. :)

Feldherr Mini Plus, along with the couple of trays of ships I'll be using, and their new dials, token and accessories tray. It'll handily do 2-3 lists (depending on how many large base ships you've got in them) plus all of the bits you'll need.
